A lot has changed since this picture was taken.
That's my grandpaw Chester Bright, and one of the old trucks from the early days of our family business.
Bright Services started in 1966.
Back then there were no walking-floor trailers, no big spreader trucks, no cell phones to tell a driver where his next load was going, and certainly none of the equipment we depend on today.
There was a truck, a day's work to be done, and customers depending on you to show up.
Nearly 60 years later, a lot of the equipment has changed.
The trucks are bigger. The poultry houses are bigger. The farms have changed. And the way we do the work has changed more than my grandpaw probably could have imagined when this picture was taken.
But some things shouldn't change.
Your word ought to mean something.
A customer should get what they paid for.
Take care of people's property.
Show up when you say you will.
And if there's a problem, do your best to make it right.
Those are pretty simple ideas, but they're still what we're trying to build Bright Services around today.
We're certainly not perfect. We've made mistakes over the years, learned a lot of lessons the hard way, and we're still working every day to get better at what we do.
But we're proud that after almost six decades, our family is still here.
Still hauling.
Still spreading.
Still serving farmers.
And hopefully doing it in a way my grandpaw would be proud of.

Breeder houses have changed a lot since 1966.

But good bedding and good service still matter.

Breeder houses present some different challenges when it comes to bedding. House design, equipment, pad condition, and whether the house is empty or occupied can all affect how much material is needed and how it can be spread.
We've spread both sawdust and shavings in breeder houses, including adding fresh bedding during a flock when conditions called for it.
Mid-flock spreading is a very different job from spreading an empty house. It takes considerably more preparation and time, and most importantly, extra care around the birds and equipment.
That's one reason we don't believe every poultry house—or every bedding job—should be treated the same.
Sometimes experience matters as much as the equipment. Call us to set up your next delivery.

How Much Sawdust Does a 40' × 400' Poultry House Need?
It depends—but here's a good rule of thumb. 5 to 5 1/2 20' loads per house.

Every poultry house is different. Since most 40×400 broiler houses have been around a while, several factors affect how much bedding is needed, including:

• The condition of the existing pad
• Low spots, dips, and uneven areas in the floor
• How much bedding remains from the. previous flock
• The bedding depth you're trying to achieve

As a general guideline, a typical 40' × 400' broiler house will require about 5 to 5½ loads with a 20' spreader, or just under 1½ tractor-trailer loads of sawdust.

At Bright Services, we load every truck as large as is practical while protecting your equipment and poultry house. Every load is packed for secure transport, and our experienced drivers work to deliver the most bedding possible.
Need to freshen up existing litter? We also provide top dressing to give baby chicks a clean, fresh layer of sawdust or shavings.

How much sawdust will it take to fill a 66x600 poultry house?
Well... that depends.
Every poultry house is different, and several factors determine how much bedding you'll need, including:
• How smooth the pads are
• Whether old litter is still in the house
• Whether it's a brand-new house
• The depth of bedding you're trying to achieve (usually between 3 & 4 inches)
●As a general rule of thumb, a 66' × 600' mega house requires 3½ tractor-trailer loads of sawdust, or approximately 14½ loads with a 20' spreader.
●The best value is often to purchase full tractor-trailer loads delivered to your farm, and let us professionally spread the bedding. We can install our sawdust and shavings—or yours.
●Our professional spreading service is just $60 per spreader load when using our spreaders and loader. (Minimum 4 T.T. load requirement applies to avoid an additional service fee.)
