Rachel's article in the Echo Press jogged my memory on the Bellanca T-250.
While Bellanca is best known for their Viking line of airplanes, Bellanca Aircraft was also a 'go-to' company for small developers who designed a concept airplane and wanted it built out. Most notably, Bellanca contracted with Eagle Aircraft to build the DW-1 cropduster between 1980-1982. They did this in the currently vacant warehouse building on airport property off of 34th Ave. Last week we shared a photo of a DW-1 on our ramp.
Another company that contracted with Bellanca was Anderson-Greenwood for their T-250 Aries. Anderson-Greenwood had previously designed some unique but unsuccessful airplanes in the past. Their T-250 was designed to compete with the pipular Bonanzas, Mooneys, etc of the mid-1970's.
The T-250 was ultimately a flop. From my research, only two of them are left flying. One in Texas and one in California. Once every few years I get a picture sent to me from friends of mine who see them sitting on a ramp at an airport (see photo in comments).
The T-250 is also one of the only Bellanca products I've personally never seen at AXN. Maybe we need to bring one back?
