Running a chocolate business can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful.

There are customers, orders, finances, equipment, employees and constant decisions. At the same time, everyday life continues. Family responsibilities, health concerns, caregiving, financial worries, loss, moving and other major life events can add even more pressure.

Sometimes, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀.

Self-care does not have to mean taking a vacation or finding hours of free time. Small, intentional actions can help.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀. Prioritize sleep, regular meals, movement and short breaks whenever possible.

𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲. Set realistic priorities and give yourself permission to let less important things wait.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱. Talk with someone you trust. You do not have to carry every challenge alone.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺. Employees may be dealing with work stress and personal stress too. Clear communication, listening and reasonable flexibility can make a real difference.

𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲. During difficult seasons, doing your best may look different from usual.

If stress becomes persistent, overwhelming or begins interfering with everyday life, reaching out to a qualified health or mental health professional can also be an important form of self-care.
