Blair Senior Services, Inc. Blair Senior Services, Inc. serves individuals of all ages through diverse programming and in senior is part of the nation’s aging network.

The Federal Older Americans Act of 1965 established the Federal Administration on Aging and in 1973, amendments to the Act mandated states to establish Area Agencies on Aging based on units known as Planning and Service Areas. Pennsylvania made the decision to designate counties as these Planning and Service Areas. In 1974, Blair Senior Services, Inc. was founded as the Area Agency on Aging for Bl

air County. While the majority of the Area Agencies on Aging across the Commonwealth are operated by county government, the Blair County Board of Commissioners chose to establish Blair Senior Services, Inc. as a private non-profit corporation. Of the current fifty-two Area Agencies on Aging which serve the Commonwealth’s sixty-seven counties, only nineteen are non-profit corporations. In addition to meeting the needs of older adults, Blair Senior Services, Inc. serves residents of all ages through diverse programming and contracts that help provide transportation, housing, assessments, and volunteering. Our professional staff and volunteers are dedicated to the principles and values of dignity, empowerment, advocacy, and respect. The Agency is governed by a fifteen member Board of Directors. Three Advisory Councils also offer input and guidance to Agency services and programs.

NEW OPPORTUNITY — NOW OPEN TO SELECT NEIGHBORING COUNTIES!

The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program through Blair Senior Services is excited to pilot a new opportunity for a limited number of individuals who live in counties neighboring Blair County that do not currently have a Foster Grandparent Program!

If you live outside Blair County but are close to one of our participating Blair County schools, you may now be eligible to become a Foster Grandparent Classroom Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of local children. ❤️

Foster Grandparents receive:
❤️ A $4/hour tax-free stipend for those who meet income eligibility requirements.
🚗 Mileage reimbursement from your home to your assigned school/station.
👧 The opportunity to provide encouragement, support, and one-on-one attention to children in the classroom.

💙 The chance to make a meaningful difference while serving in a school that may be conveniently located near your home.

Applicants must be age 55+, meet program eligibility requirements, and have reliable transportation to and from their assigned station.

⚠️ This is a limited pilot opportunity, and only a small number of spots will be available.
