There’s something about early mornings, a yard full of happy dogs, and the sound of paws racing after a ball that just hits different.

No chaos. No rush. Just dogs being dogs, getting some energy out, playing together, and starting the day on a good note.

Honestly, this might be one of my favorite parts of this job, watching a bunch of dogs completely forget the rest of the world exists because BALL!

Meet Classic!

This handsome little guy is joining us at GSC Training to work on puppy manners, confidence, and learning that being independent is actually pretty cool.

We’ll be helping Classic build those good-life skills while keeping things fun, positive, and age-appropriate. We’re excited to watch this little dude learn, grow, and become the best version of himself!

Hotshot is hanging out with us for a Board & Train program, and her big goals are confidence building + working through separation anxiety from her mom.

And y’all… in just ONE WEEK, this girl has gone from hiding in the very back of her kennel to actively seeking out attention from us.

That might sound like a small thing, but for Hotshot, it’s HUGE.

She’s a dog who tends to shut down when she’s in new or unfamiliar environments. Instead of exploring, engaging, or asking questions, her first instinct is basically “Absolutely not. I would like to unsubscribe from this experience.”

But this is where the real work starts.

We’re not going to throw her into the deep end and expect her to magically become confident. We’re going to slowly and thoughtfully build her confidence, exposing her to new environments, people, sounds, experiences, and expectations at a pace she can actually handle.

Because a confident dog isn’t just a dog who looks good walking through the world, a confident dog has the ability to process new experiences, recover from stress, make good choices, and trust their handler when they’re unsure.

That’s why socialization and desensitization are so important. Socialization isn’t just letting your puppy meet every person and dog they see. It’s teaching them that the world is full of different sights, sounds, surfaces, environments, and experiences and that those things don’t have to be scary.

And desensitization helps them learn that they can encounter something unfamiliar without immediately going into panic mode.

For Hotshot, we’re building those skills one tiny victory at a time.

We’re not looking for “She tolerated it.”
We’re working toward “I’ve got this. What’s next?”

And honestly? Watching that little light start to come back on is one of the BEST parts of this job.

Today was Fable’s FIRST socialization class with us, and we are already obsessed.

Puppy socialization is about so much more than “go meet people and play with dogs.” We’re basically introducing puppies to the absolute nonsense that is life and teaching them, “Hey, weird stuff happens… but you’re okay!”

New people. New dogs. New places. Weird sounds. Different surfaces. Handling. Distractions. All of it!

Our goal isn’t to make Fable think everyone and everything is her new best friend. We want to help her learn how to feel safe, think through new situations, recover from the unexpected, and confidently exist in the world.

Because confident dogs don’t just happen. They’re built through hundreds of tiny, positive experiences and a whole lot of patience, snacks, and occasionally questioning why you willingly chose a career where you get peed on (is that just me?)

We’re SO excited to help shape Fable’s future and give her the foundation to grow into a happy, confident, well-adjusted dog.
