Unit 523 is ready to roll! 🚛💪

New tires, fully serviced, and washed up this weekend!

Between Eli, our maintenance manager, and Rob himself, we typically have weekend repair coverage to keep downtime during the week to a minimum.

We’ve also added a fleet courtesy car, allowing drivers to drop their trucks off for weekend maintenance and take the car home until their truck is ready.

The goal is simple: Less downtime, less waiting around, and more time on the road earning revenue.

A little weekend work goes a long way toward keeping our drivers moving and making money during the week!

The farming operation had to call in the trucking operation this weekend to help get some soybeans moved. To avoid the lines at the processing plant, we had to start early.

Comparing Q1 2024 with Q3 2026, you can really see our transition toward local, home-daily work for most of the fleet.

In early 2024, our trucks logged miles in 26 states, with about 59% of those miles in Minnesota. By Q3 2026, we were down to seven states, with nearly 86% of our miles right here in Minnesota. Most of the rest were in Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

And we actually covered MORE total miles in Q3 2026—465,509 compared with 409,076 in Q1 2024. We’re keeping the wheels turning closer to home!

This shift has taken a lot of work, planning, and support from customers who fit the operation we’re building. Our goal is to create trucking jobs people want: good-paying work that lets drivers get home, see their families, and have a life outside the truck.

We still have drivers handling longer trips, and they remain an important part of our operation. But for most of our fleet, the direction is clear: more miles close to home and more nights in their own beds.

That’s progress we’re proud to be “Measuring Up.” 🚛

Three trucks over 8 MPG—and just 0.07 MPG separating first from third. 🚛

Measuring Up — September 28–October 11

This period included more freeway driving, with the trucks pulling tankers, loaded half the time and empty half the time. We’re tracking average driving speed alongside fuel economy to help put the results into context.

Fleet totals:
• 75,133 miles
• 11,288 gallons
• 6.66 MPG, up from 6.48
• 185.3 idle hours — 11.37% of engine runtime
• 33 fewer idle hours than the previous report

The individual Top 4:
🥇 227: 8.39 MPG | 51.7 MPH average | ↑ 0.82 MPG
🥈 127: 8.34 MPG | 53.5 MPH average | ↑ 0.49 MPG
🥉 825: 8.32 MPG | 53.7 MPH average | ↑ 0.44 MPG
4️⃣ 24: 7.40 MPG | 52.9 MPH average | ↓ 0.23 MPG
The Day Cabs—125/225/325/425: 21,024 miles at 6.67 MPG combined, averaging 51.7 MPH.
The Tri-Axles—525/625/725: 10,326 miles at 6.09 MPG combined, averaging 52.2 MPH.

Honorable mention to 324: 5,679 miles at 6.09 MPG, averaging 54.3 MPH—with only about 2.7 hours of idling across the two weeks.

We have a very important question that needs to be settled… 🐈🚛

Everyone knows that if a cat falls asleep on your lap while you're sitting on the couch, you're legally obligated to stay there until the cat decides to move. Those are just the rules.

But what happens when you show up to work and there's a cat sitting on the step of your truck?

Are you allowed to move the cat and go to work? Or are you officially excused from your shift until the cat decides it's time for you to leave? 🤔😂

Asking for a few drivers who may have just found the purr-fect excuse for being late!

We continue to find more and more reasons to love the versatility of our belt trailers.

We’ve recently expanded our capacity by working with a few additional outside carriers, giving us access to even more belt trailers when we need them. At the same time, we’re always looking for new products, new lanes, and occasionally asking, “I wonder if we can haul that with a belt?” 🤔

That versatility is a big part of what makes belts fit so well into our operation. It allows us to move between different industries and seasons while keeping the equipment busy and, just as importantly, maintaining profitable rates year-round.

Right now, some of our belts are staying busy with field deliveries of fertilizer and manure products. As we move into winter, they’ll transition into stockpiling lime, hauling feed ingredients, and, of course, helping keep Midwest roads clear by delivering salt.

Then before we know it, we’ll be right back into spring fertilizer and another season of finding different ways to put these trailers to work.

We’ve learned over the years that having equipment that can do more than one thing is incredibly valuable. The belts give us the flexibility to follow the work instead of trying to force the work to fit the equipment.

Also, they make good climbing spots for our farm cats. 🐾

Our Top 4 were all running the same loop, giving us an apples-to-apples look at real-world fuel economy. This report also adds average driving speed to the comparison.

Across the fleet:
• 81,972 miles
• 12,643 gallons
• 6.48 MPG
• 218 idle hours — 11.95% of engine runtime

The Top 4:
🥇 825: 7.88 MPG | 52.5 MPH average | ↓ 0.63 MPG
🥈 127: 7.85 MPG | 50.0 MPH average | ↓ 0.73 MPG
🥉 227: 7.57 MPG | 50.0 MPH average | ↑ 0.72 MPG
4️⃣ The Day Cabs — 125/225/325/425: 6.58 MPG combined | 51.2 MPH average | ↓ 0.23 MPG

Honorable mention to 324: 5.91 MPG over 5,889 miles, averaging 53.5 MPH.

Wind and rain were part of the picture, too: Mankato averaged 9.6 MPH winds, saw a peak gust of 38 MPH, and recorded at least 1.94 inches of precipitation.

🚨 IMPORTANT WARNING FOR ANYONE VISITING OUR NEW OFFICE 🚨

We’ve officially moved the Grover Farm Trucking office out to the farm, and apparently the farm cats have decided this means they now work in customer relations. 🐱😂

They’ve gotten VERY comfortable with people coming and going—and maybe a little too friendly.

So if you stop by the office, please check your vehicle before you leave! Our cats have been known to jump into open cars and trucks and appear completely prepared to leave the farm with whoever happens to be heading out next.

We’d prefer not to add “accidental cat delivery” to the list of services offered by Grover Farm Trucking. 😂

They may greet you.
They may supervise you.
They may climb into your vehicle.

Please don’t accidentally take them home. 🐱🚛
