Our crew worked the Annapolis Sailboat Show today, as unofficial spokespeople for Jeanneau and Cruise Annapolis.

St. Michaels makes for a lovely, manageable overnight destination if you’re sailing out of Annapolis. We recommend the Maritime Museum (some transient slips are available there, too), the Tavern at 208 Talbot, Flamingo Flats for Eastern Shore foodie gifts and Olde Town Candy for rewarding patient young sailors.

Summer Salt has been chartered for most of the spring and summer. But she was in the dock long enough for our family to do a midseason check. Everything is looking good. And we hope people have been enjoying their sails.

Cruising World devoted its May cover and four inside pages to Summer Salt (referred to as “our test boat during sea trials on the Chesapeake”) and her big sister, the Jeanneau 490. The editors write: “Every 10 years or so, a new wrinkle in boat design or layout comes along that alters the way in which we perceive cruising boats.”

Cruising World magazine took Summer Salt out for a sail -- and then named the Jeanneau 440 the most innovative boat of 2018.

The Boat of the Year judges don't award a Most Innovative prize every year, but the deck design of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 was worth a mention.
