🚂 BIG BOY IS COMING TO SILVER SPRINGS THURSDAY 🚂

With Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 making its whistle stop in Silver Springs as part of America's 250th Anniversary celebration, village officials have announced several temporary road closures to help accommodate what is expected to be a large crowd.

Beginning sometime after 7 a.m. Thursday, the following areas will be closed to vehicle traffic:

🔴 Railroad Avenue from Perry Avenue to North Main Street

🔴 North Main Street from Church Street to just before the Pizza Depot Apartments

🔴 Cottage Street from Ribaud Avenue to Bigelow Avenue
• There will be no access to Cottage Street from Ribaud, Duncan, Whiton, or Bigelow streets

🔴 The municipal parking lot across from the Silver Springs Fire Department will also be closed to vehicles.

Village officials say roads leading into and out of the village will remain open. The closures are intended to provide safe viewing areas for visitors gathering to see the world's largest operating steam locomotive.

🚗 PARKING INFORMATION
Visitors are encouraged to park where legal parking is available along village streets. Some may choose to park near the Village Park and walk to the tracks. Parking is not permitted on Morton Salt property.

While some areas are normally marked "No Parking," officials say enforcement will be relaxed for the event, but streets must remain passable for emergency vehicles and local traffic.

🏠 Residents who wish to allow visitors to park on their property may do so at their own discretion.

🚛 Tractor-trailer traffic serving Morton Salt on Bigelow Avenue is expected to continue as normal.

👮 The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office will have deputies in the village, though much of their attention will be focused on managing the train crossing and the train's visit.

📞 Questions?
Village Office: 585-493-2500 (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
DPW Office: 585-505-6456 (7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

If you live near the railroad tracks, officials encourage you to plan ahead and expect heavier-than-normal traffic throughout the day.
