🚨 It's Brake Safety Week!

August 23–29, 2026 is CVSA Brake Safety Week, and inspectors across North America will take a closer look at CMV brake systems — with special attention on brake drums and air disc brake rotors.

Before you roll, check:

➡️ Brake hoses & tubing — chafing, kinks, cracks, leaks
➡️ Pushrod travel & slack adjusters — excessive travel or improper operation
➡️ Brake linings, pads & shoes — excessive wear or damage
➡️ Drums & rotors — cracks, excessive wear or structural damage
➡️ Air system — listen for leaks and verify proper operation

Find it before the inspector does. Fix it before you get on the road.

America’s Roads Depend on Pros.

TRUCKING TRIVIA: Why do we call it a "Semi" anyway?

We use the word every day, but have you ever wondered why a massive, 80,000-pound big rig is called a "semi-truck"? There’s nothing "semi" or half-sized about them!

It all goes back to 1898, when an automobile builder named Alexander Winton invented a new vehicle to deliver his cars to buyers without driving them and putting miles on them.

He modified a car to have a cart attached to the back. Because that trailer couldn't stand on its own two wheels without being attached to the driving vehicle, it was called a "semi-trailer." Over time, the name just stuck to the whole rig!

ON THIS DAY IN TRUCKING HISTORY: July 7, 1980 Today marks the anniversary of the day the modern trucking industry was truly born.

On July 7, 1980, the Motor Carrier Act was officially signed into law, deregulating commercial trucking in America. Before this, the government held a tight grip on who could haul what, where they could go, and what they could charge. Deregulation opened up the free market, paved the way for independent owner-operators, and completely transformed how freight moves across the continent.

To all the owner-operators and logistics folks following our page: Today is basically your industry's independence day! 🇺🇸

Custom trucks, competitive lanes, and the driver culture we know today all took off right here.
