Did you know? Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s September 16). It actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when a small, outnumbered Mexican army defeated the powerful French forces. While it’s actually minor holiday in Mexico, it's become a big celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, especially in the U.S.

A fun throwback to 2016 and my trip to the grand opening of Shanghai Disney! I spent the summer of 2016 in China, during a 3-month language-intensive study abroad program. The hard work paid off and I earned my language pin for Mandarin when I went back to Disney for my second college program in 2018.

More than 200 travel industry professionals gather in Washington D.C. for nearly 200 Capitol Hill meetings and ASTA’s Travel Industry Forecast.

Taking place April 20–21, Legislative Day brings travel advisors from across the country to the nation’s capital to advocate for policies that support small business travel agencies, protect consumers and strengthen the travel industry overall. Attendees reflect the full breadth of the travel advisor community, from one-person independent contractor businesses to leaders of the nation’s largest Travel Management Companies. The program also features ASTA’s Travel Industry Forecast, giving attendees and policymakers a timely look at the economic, policy and market forces shaping leisure and corporate travel.
