From Crisis to Community Care: How Mustang Is Redirecting Abandoned Medical Supplies to Those in Need
In early 2025, Prospect Medical Holdings, the for-profit owner of Crozer Health hospitals and facilities in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, abruptly declared bankruptcy. The resulting closures left 2,600 healthcare workers without jobs, drastically reduced community access to healthcare, and created a crisis for unpaid vendors.
When Prospect declared bankruptcy, Mustang was storing more than 900 pallets of Prospect’s hospital supplies and equipment in our warehouse.
We were left with unpaid invoices and the time-intensive and costly burden of shifting a massive amount of medical supplies and equipment—some of it nearing official expiration dates.
This posed a significant challenge for our warehouse business, in which storage space equals revenue.
Fortunately, Mustang doesn’t shrink from challenges.
Early on, we made a commitment to avoid the environmental harm of sending these supplies to landfills or incinerators.
So for over a year, we’ve worked diligently to identify organizations serving vulnerable populations that could benefit from the supplies abandoned by Prospect Medical Holdings—which include personal protective equipment, respirator equipment, stethoscopes, maternity supplies, hospital equipment, and much more.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll share the outcomes of our donation campaigns and highlight the amazing organizations receiving, transporting, distributing, and repurposing these supplies to help people in both local and overseas communities.
Mustang is proud to have turned our encounters with Prospect’s mismanagement and exploitation into new opportunities to support the health and well-being of people in need.
Stay tuned for more updates, and read below for additional background on the Crozer closures and resulting community impacts.

Recent reprieves and last-minute cash influxes have seemingly not been enough to save Crozer Health as Prospect Medical Holdings -- the company that owns Delaware County's largest health network -- has definitively said the health system will close.
