I knew it!

A young California condor flew into Oregon last month, marking the first time in more than 120 years that one of the critically endangered birds has flown free in Oregon’s sky, according to the Yurok Tribe–led Northern California Condor Restoration Program.

A few visitors from Finland recently came to Astoria searching for where their ancestors stayed when they first arrived in America.

With help from Rachel at the Lower Columbia Preservation Society, they were able to connect old records to actual boarding houses and locations throughout town.

Next, Eric Wheeler, who leads architectural walking tours, helped bring Finn Town to life by sharing the history, buildings, and stories that tied it all together.

The journey continued with Ann at the Finnish Brotherhood Hall, who welcomed us into the hall and shared its rich history and importance to Astoria's Finnish community.

"Tour Your Curiosity" can mean many things. For these cousins from Finland, it meant discovering their roots, walking the same streets their ancestors once walked, and connecting with a piece of family history that had been separated by an ocean and generations.

To help make that happen, I partnered with some of the best local historians and storytellers in Astoria. Together, we turned curiosity into connection, and history into something personal.

One of my travelers taught me something new this week 🇵🇱

While on tour, she saw the name “William Dombrowsky” on my phone screen and immediately said, “That’s a Polish name!” She then explained that she was celebrating her Polish Name Day — a tradition where people celebrate the day connected to their name on the calendar, almost like a second birthday.

I had never heard of Name Day before, and honestly, I loved the idea.

So naturally… we celebrated 😊

I stopped in Cannon Beach and bought a couple orange chocolate truffles for her to celebrate Name Day the proper way.

Later, I’ll have to do the same for William Dombrowsky.

One of my favorite parts of giving tours is realizing the learning goes both ways. Sometimes the travelers teach me just as much as I teach them.

Onward Adventures will be closed July 3rd & 4th while Bill and I take time to celebrate something very special — we spontaneously decided to get married surrounded by a small group of family and friends here on the Oregon Coast. ❤️

This business started as a fresh start and a dream that slowly grew one tour, one guest, and one adventure at a time. Through all of it, Bill has been by my side the entire journey. Honestly, without Bill, this dream would not have become the success it is today.

Going forward, Onward Adventures will continue as a family-owned business — now proudly operated by a married couple who share a love for adventure, community, and the Oregon North Coast.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us by riding along on tours, sharing reviews, recommending us to friends, and believing in this small local business. Your support truly helped build this next chapter of our lives.
