✈️Frequent flyers are about to feel it at the checkpoint. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has suspended both TSA PreCheck and Global Entry amid the ongoing partial federal government shutdown.

The suspension went into effect early Sunday morning around 6 a.m. ET, immediately stripping approved travelers of their expedited security and customs perks. That means no dedicated PreCheck lanes and no fast-track reentry for Global Entry members returning from international trips.

The move comes as the Department of Homeland Security faces funding issues tied to the shutdown, which began Feb. 14. With limited resources, officials are reallocating staff to focus on essential security operations.
Airlines and travel industry groups are warning that the pause could create longer wait times at airports across the country — especially for business travelers and frequent flyers who rely on the programs to move quickly through security.
There is no confirmed timeline for when the programs will resume. Until Congress reaches a funding agreement, travelers - trusted or not - should expect standard screening lines and potential delays nationwide.
