While in Milwaukee, our Founder & Chief Journey Curator, Carmen Smith, had the pleasure of attending an extraordinary private Chef’s Table at EsterEv featuring Chef Dan Jacobs and Chef Tristen Epps, both familiar faces from Bravo’s Top Chef.

From the thoughtfully curated menu to the creativity and artistry behind every course, the evening was a beautiful reminder that some of the most memorable travel experiences happen around a table.

Chef Dan’s Milwaukee restaurants, EsterEv and DanDan, are already among Carmen’s favorite culinary discoveries. And if you ever visit DanDan, the crab rangoons are a must!

This special evening brought together exceptional culinary talent, innovative flavors, and the opportunity to connect with the chefs behind the experience.

Because sometimes the destination is just the beginning.

One of the greatest joys of travel is discovering places you never planned to visit.

While traveling home from Charlotte, we ventured off the traditional I-95 route and found two experiences worth sharing.

📍 Famous Toastery – Mooresville, NC
A welcoming atmosphere and an excellent breakfast (the Breakfast Pizza was fantastic!).

📍 Chang Thai Authentic Thai Food – Charlottesville, VA
Authentic flavors, beautiful presentation, warm hospitality, and some of the best Thai cuisine we’ve enjoyed while traveling.

Istanbul is truly one of the world’s great cultural destinations. 🇹🇷

From the beauty of the Bosphorus to the historic mosques, vibrant bazaars, incredible food, and rich history layered throughout the city — every corner offers a completely different experience.

If you love destinations filled with culture, history, architecture, shopping, and unforgettable experiences, Istanbul absolutely deserves a place on your travel list.

Turkey has been beautiful to experience firsthand.

Before there was Call Carmen… there was my mother ❤️

She introduced me to travel as a little girl — airplanes, road trips, culture, people, experiences, and the understanding that the world was bigger than our own backyard.

Years later, I was blessed to return the gift by taking her to places she had always dreamed of experiencing, including Spain and Morocco.

Travel changes people.
But sometimes the greatest gift is experiencing the world with the people who first taught you how to dream.
