Ways to Prevent Trap Billowing and Flapping

Work Your Way Back to Secure with More Tie-Downs
Work your way backwards once the tarp's front has been flattened and secured. At strategic locations, put more bungee straps to the tarp to fasten it to your trailer or the load itself. A second ratchet strap placed across the tarp's center will keep that area flat. Finally, use bungee rope to completely encircle the load from corner to corner. As a result, the tarp's edges are protected from the load.

The benefit of employing bungee rope in this situation is that you can apply quite large sections of rope without endangering the load's safety.

Ways to Prevent Trap Billowing and Flapping

Tight the Load with Tarp from the Front
Air must move across a weight from front to back according to physics and common sense. Tarps should therefore receive the most attention towards the front of the load, according to common sense. The front of the load is important, as experienced truckers who tarp effectively will tell you.

The front tarp needs to be as flat and tightly fitted as possible in order to minimize billowing. The possibility that the tarp would billow across its full surface will be reduced if you do not provide the air a clear access under the front of it. So, think flat and tight.

COVID's Impact on Shopping, Supply Chain Remains Profound

WASHINGTON — The coronavirus pandemic had a profound impact on how shopping and supply chains operate, experts said Jan. 10 during a session at Transportation Research Board’s annual meeting.

“During COVID, because we were at home, e-commerce, online shopping, received a huge jump in how much sales they got,” Miguel Jaller, a researcher at the Institute of Transportation Studies at Davis University of California, said. “Now back in the last quarter of 2022 they’re almost all already at the same trajectory as they had been before the pandemic. And there are many things that are affecting those values.”
