School is back in session, and more than 480,000 buses are expected on the road this year. At least 30 states now use stop-arm cameras that catch drivers passing a stopped bus, and a violation can hit a driver's CDL and reflect on the carrier they run for. Spring Logistics reminds our carriers and their drivers of these safety tips: stay at least 6 to 7 seconds behind a school bus while driving, watch speeds in school zones and never cross the 10-foot danger zone while kids are loading or unloading.

Know the 20% Rule

CVSA's Brake Safety Week begins August 23-29, and the top brake-related OOS violation every year is the 20% defective brake rule. If 20% or more of a vehicle's brakes are impaired, that truck is placed out of service. Last year, 15% of vehicles inspected during Brake Safety Week received OOS violations. Make sure your fleet is ready before the week begins.
