Honest Transportation Solutions PAC (HTS PAC) is a political action committee that was formed by local citizens who believe taxpayers in the City of Austin deserve to know the full story about the costs and benefits of Proposition 1 before casting their votes on the measure in the November 8, 2016 general election. The City of Austin is selling Proposition 1 to the public with hyperbole and overly
optimistic projections to convince voters to support more tax increases and to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a plan that will serve a tiny percentage of our population, while increasing congestion along our busiest city streets and harming small business owners at the expense of developers. In fact, the largest financial contributors supporting the passage of Proposition 1 right now are connected to the Chamber of Commerce, Realtors, title companies and out-of-state developers. The truth is that Proposition 1 will divert funds away from real solutions that would relieve Austin's notorious traffic gridlock and consume most of our borrowing capacity. This will limit our ability to borrow money in the future to address issues such as flood control and basic emergency services. HTS PAC is dedicated to shining the light of truth on Proposition 1 and the city's plans which will only serve to continue to increase the already-high cost of living in Austin, while at the same time providing no meaningful traffic relief. Austin is now ranked as the 4th worst city in North America for traffic congestion. We must take decisive action now to plan for our future growth and ensure that our quality of life is protected for generations to come.
