🇺🇸 Labor Day weekend travel is underway at AUS!

If you’re flying today, give yourself plenty of time to get through the airport and start your long-weekend getaway.

We recommend getting to the terminal:
2.5 hours before domestic flights
3 hours before international flights

Remember to allow additional time for pre-security activities, including:
🅿️ Parking
🛄Checking bags with your airline
🚗Returning a rental vehicle
🧳TSA security screening

During peak travel periods, parking facilities, airline ticket counters, baggage check and security checkpoints may take longer than usual.

Arriving early means more time to get through the airport without feeling rushed and more time to enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

If you’re starting your long-weekend getaway at AUS, parking facilities and airport roadways may be busier than usual.
Before you leave for the airport:
🅿️ Check real-time parking availability at ABIAParking.com so you know what to expect when you arrive.
📅 Reserve your parking spot in advance at ABIAParking.com.
⏰ Give yourself extra time to find parking and make your way to the terminal.

Follow posted signs and use caution around active construction areas as you make your way to AUS.

If you’re heading out of Austin for a long-weekend getaway, here are a few tips to help you get your holiday trip off to a smooth start:

⏰ Arrive early: We recommend arriving at the terminal 2.5 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights.

🚗 Plan for parking: Parking facilities and airport roadways may be busier than usual. Check real-time parking availability or reserve a spot in advance at ABIAParking.com.

🧳 Pack smart: Review TSA packing requirements before coming to the airport, including the 3-1-1 rule for liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes.

🔎 Know your security options: The Barbara Jordan Terminal has four TSA security checkpoints, and all four provide access to every gate.

Whether you’re squeezing in one last summer adventure or traveling home for the holiday weekend, give yourself extra time and plan ahead.

✈️ July came incredibly close to taking the top spot for busiest month-ever at AUS!

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport welcomed 2,102,655 arriving and departing passengers in July 2026, making it the second-busiest month ever at AUS.

And just how close was it? Only 198 passengers separated July from the current record-holder, June 2026, when AUS welcomed 2,102,853 passengers. 👏

The continued demand for air travel highlights AUS’s important role as a gateway for Central Texas and beyond. We’re proud to serve our growing community and the millions of travelers who pass through AUS each year.

What could a future in aviation look like? ✈️

High school juniors and seniors from across Travis County got a behind-the-scenes look at Southwest Airlines during AUS Discovery Day, exploring the many careers that keep an airline and airport moving.

Students toured a Southwest Boeing 737, stepped inside the cockpit, learned about inflight and ground operations, and connected with Southwest employees about the different paths that led them to aviation. They also heard directly from Southwest pilots about the Destination 225° Pilot Pathways program. 👩‍✈️👨‍✈️

As AUS continues to grow alongside our airline partners, opportunities like Discovery Day give students the chance to explore what’s possible for their futures and see that there’s more than one path to a career in aviation.

Mayor Kirk Watson has a special announcement about Delta Air Lines’ latest nonstop flight from AUS!

🇫🇷 Starting March 27, 2027, Delta will offer nonstop service from Austin to Paris, France.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday at Delta.com

This is the first time AUS will offer nonstop services to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG).

C’est magnifique!

🚧 Big changes are coming to the front of the Barbara Jordan Terminal!

Beginning in 2027, the Red Garage will close and be removed to make way for the New Arrivals & Departures Hall.

Why? Because we're bringing the terminal entrance closer to the Rental Car Facility and rideshare pickup area, making your journey to and from the terminal more convenient.

Last Friday, we hosted a flag transfer ceremony. The Austin Police Department Color Guard performed the Posting of the Colors, and Austin Aviation veterans transferred old U.S. flags to Girl Scout Troop 785.



We want to thank the Austin Police Department Color Guard and our Austin Aviation veterans for their service, and Girl Scout Troop 785 for accepting these flags.
