If summer travel plans involve flying a pet, know this before you book: airlines enforce "heat embargos" that stop cargo pet travel when it's too hot at either airport, usually above 80–85°F. And the list of airlines that fly pets in cargo has shrunk — among the majors, only Alaska and Hawaiian still do it for the general public.
