🌾🎃 Alright Baker County… You Beautiful Pumpkin-Chunkin’ Legends! 🎃🌾

Wow. Just… wow wow wow. What a day, what a crowd, what a hometown full of heart. The air was crisp, the laughter was loud, and the pumpkins were flyin’ high from a helicopter like it was destiny.

To every single one of you who showed up, chunked a pumpkin, bid on an auction item, or just soaked in the sunshine — we see you, we love you, and we thank you.

A special shout-out to Frank Carlson, whose live music was absolutely amazing — toe-tappin’, soul-shakin’, and full of feel-good rhythm.

Big thanks to Barley Brown’s Brew Pub for their lively libations that kept the energy flowin’, D&J Taco Shop for bringin’ the flavor fiesta, and our awesome volunteers, who served up some fabulous vittles that made everybody smile.

And let’s tip our hats high to Blachford Farms — who once again donated those beautiful pumpkins that made this whole event possible.

Now, let’s talk about the highlight of the day, 7-year-old Max Luna, who took home first prize and a cool $500! When he picked up his check and was asked what he planned to do with his winnings, Max grinned and said,
“I’m gonna pay back my mom for all the toys I’ve been orderin’ from Amazon!” 😂

Now that’s the kind of honesty, heart, and humor that makes Baker County one of a kind.

The silent auction? Outta this world. The support? Through the roof. And because of you, this will be one heck of a scholarship year for our local students through the SPC Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation.

So here’s to Baker County, the folks who show up, lift up, and keep the good times rollin’. You’re the heartbeat of this place, and we couldn’t do it without ya.

Well folks… if you’ve ever looked up at the sky and hollered, “There goes my pumpkin!”… you might be from Baker County!

We are just FOUR days away from Pumpkin Chunkin’—that magical time of year when grown adults get way too excited about launching produce across the airport. Tickets are on sale at Baker Aircraft and Grumpy’s Repair, so grab yours before they’re gone faster than Aunt Carol’s pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. 🥧

We’ve got live music by Frank Carlson, Barley Brown’s brews, face painting, a bouncy house, and contests for best costume and best decorated pumpkin—which means even your dog in a tutu might win somethin’. 🐶👗

There’ll be warm drinks, a “guess the weight of the giant pumpkin” game (hint: it’s heavier than your brother-in-law’s fishing stories), and a live auction that’s wilder than a squirrel in a corn silo!

So polish your boots, bring your sense of humor, and come help us chunk pumpkins for cash and raise scholarship funds for a great cause!

On Saturday, October 18th at 12 PM, at the Baker City Airport will transform into a place of pure enchantment and mischievous delight, where pumpkins will soar through the sky as if bewitched by an unseen spell. Sponsored proudly by the SPC Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation and Baker Aircraft, this is no ordinary autumn afternoon, it’s a festival stitched with wonder, courage, and community spirit.

🇺🇸 SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT — SPC. Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation 🇺🇸

On this Memorial Day, a sacred time to remember and honor those who gave all for our country, we are proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the SPC. Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation Scholarships.

This year, a total of $25,000 is being awarded to three exceptional young women from our community:
🎓 Sofia Hanson
🎓 Annastasia Johnson
🎓 Jessica Mercado

These scholarships are given in memory of SPC. Mabry James Anders, a brave son of Baker County who laid down his life in service to our nation. His sacrifice fuels the mission of this Foundation, to carry forward his legacy by investing in the future of our youth.

Every dollar awarded is made possible by the heartfelt support of this beautiful community. Through BBQs, raffles, truck pulls, pumpkin chunkin, donations, and tireless dedication, you have turned grief into growth, and loss into legacy. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As flags wave high this Memorial Day, let us remember the true cost of freedom, and let us celebrate these students who carry the torch forward with purpose and pride.

The SPC Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 scholarship awards. This scholarship honors the legacy of SPC Mabry James Anders by supporting students in their pursuit of higher education.

Eligibility & Application Details:

Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2025.
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service.
