🎓 Scholarship Announcement — Honoring Service, Inspiring Futures 🇺🇸

To Baker City, OR and the surrounding communities.

The SPC. Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation is proud to announce that scholarship applications are now open!

This foundation was established to honor the legacy of SPC. Mabry James Anders, his service, his values, and his deep roots in this incredible hometown. In that spirit, our mission is to give back by supporting local high school seniors from Baker City and the surrounding area as they take their next steps toward education, training, and meaningful futures.

These scholarships are about hope, opportunity, and community, about lifting up the next generation and investing in the promise that lives right here at home.

John Day greets us the way it always does, cool air, soft light, and the promise of a long day ahead. Capture season has begun, and with it comes the familiar rhythm of early mornings and unspoken understanding. Before most of the world stirs, our crew is already awake, suited up, showed up, ready.

First out the gate is the one and only Wayne Huey, steady and sure, moving with the calm confidence of someone who knows exactly who he is and what the day requires. Close behind him comes a legend in his own right, Troy Woydziak, carrying years of grit, wisdom, and heart into every step. And bringing up the line, but never the least, is Connor Moody, all quiet strength and sharp focus, proving that greatness doesn’t always announce itself.

These boys amaze me, day after day. If I had to sum them up in just three words, it would be this: drive, dedication, determination. The kind you don’t teach, you earn.

So fly steady, gentlemen of the sky, keepers of the morning light, kings of the air who rise before the day knows its own name. May the wind be kind, the work be true, and every return bring you safely home. 🚁🦌😁

✨🎄 Happy YEE-HAW-lidays, y’all! 🎄✨

The boys are at it again, bright and early, before the coffee has even decided to wake up! Today we’ve got wild horse surveys, big-game missions, and even a deer capture happening out in the great wide open.

These fellas are something else… the kind of tough-as-rawhide, warm-hearted cowboys who grab their gear, take the doors off the helicopter (brrr! ❄️😂), and do the work most folks only read about.

A big ol’ THANK YOU to the crew that shows up before sunrise to get every bird fueled, every truck rolling, and every adventure launched. We really do have the best darn crew in the world, no two ways about it!

🌾🎃 Alright Baker County… You Beautiful Pumpkin-Chunkin’ Legends! 🎃🌾

Wow. Just… wow wow wow. What a day, what a crowd, what a hometown full of heart. The air was crisp, the laughter was loud, and the pumpkins were flyin’ high from a helicopter like it was destiny.

To every single one of you who showed up, chunked a pumpkin, bid on an auction item, or just soaked in the sunshine — we see you, we love you, and we thank you.

A special shout-out to Frank Carlson, whose live music was absolutely amazing — toe-tappin’, soul-shakin’, and full of feel-good rhythm.

Big thanks to Barley Brown’s Brew Pub for their lively libations that kept the energy flowin’, D&J Taco Shop for bringin’ the flavor fiesta, and our awesome volunteers, who served up some fabulous vittles that made everybody smile.

And let’s tip our hats high to Blachford Farms — who once again donated those beautiful pumpkins that made this whole event possible.

Now, let’s talk about the highlight of the day, 7-year-old Max Luna, who took home first prize and a cool $500! When he picked up his check and was asked what he planned to do with his winnings, Max grinned and said,
“I’m gonna pay back my mom for all the toys I’ve been orderin’ from Amazon!” 😂

Now that’s the kind of honesty, heart, and humor that makes Baker County one of a kind.

The silent auction? Outta this world. The support? Through the roof. And because of you, this will be one heck of a scholarship year for our local students through the SPC Mabry James Anders Memorial Foundation.

So here’s to Baker County, the folks who show up, lift up, and keep the good times rollin’. You’re the heartbeat of this place, and we couldn’t do it without ya.

Well folks… if you’ve ever looked up at the sky and hollered, “There goes my pumpkin!”… you might be from Baker County!

We are just FOUR days away from Pumpkin Chunkin’—that magical time of year when grown adults get way too excited about launching produce across the airport. Tickets are on sale at Baker Aircraft and Grumpy’s Repair, so grab yours before they’re gone faster than Aunt Carol’s pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. 🥧

We’ve got live music by Frank Carlson, Barley Brown’s brews, face painting, a bouncy house, and contests for best costume and best decorated pumpkin—which means even your dog in a tutu might win somethin’. 🐶👗

There’ll be warm drinks, a “guess the weight of the giant pumpkin” game (hint: it’s heavier than your brother-in-law’s fishing stories), and a live auction that’s wilder than a squirrel in a corn silo!
