Congratulations to the Port of Baltimore Environmental Education Team on recently earning the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Green Center certification!

The certification recognizes organizations that promote environmental literacy, provide educational resources, and help guide schools through the Maryland Green Schools application process.

Community members joined us yesterday at Riviera Beach Library in Pasadena for Get the Scoop on Dredging to learn what happens to the sediment dredged from the Port of Baltimore’s shipping channels.

Attendees heard from local environmental and dredging experts about how we manage and reuse dredged material, what we've learned over the years and our vision for the future.

Thank you to everyone who came out, asked thoughtful questions and joined the conversation. We enjoyed sharing this important topic with the community and we hope the free ice cream made the experience even sweeter! 🍦

June is , and this week’s theme, Moving Safety Forward, reminds us that safety is a continuous journey of learning, improvement and commitment.

To kick off the month, the Maryland Port Administration hosted NFPA 70E Low Voltage Qualified Worker Training for MPA trade employees. This hands-on training helps employees safely work on or near energized electrical equipment while reinforcing industry-recognized safety standards.

By investing in training and professional development, we’re reducing workplace risks and helping ensure every employee returns home safely at the end of the day.

Thank you to all of our employees who make safety a priority every day. Together, we’re .

For the 17th consecutive year, the Port of Baltimore has received a top security assessment for its state-owned terminals from the U.S. Coast Guard!

The review included comprehensive inspections of cyber and physical security measures, along with a detailed evaluation of facility security plans.

In recent years, the Maryland Port Administration has significantly enhanced its security program at the public terminals by installing high-mast lighting and fencing, stronger gate and fence lines, and other physical security deterrents. Heightened cyber security and access control programs along with closed-circuit cameras have added to the investments and advances the MPA has made to its security program.

We appreciate our partnerships with Allied Universal, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Coast Guard.

We at the Maryland Department of Transportation are and honored to be recognized for it.

⚠️ EFFECTIVE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ⚠️

The Maryland Port Administration has taken the connecting bridge between the Dundalk and Seagirt terminals out of service for truck traffic due to advanced deterioration that was discovered during a planned rehabilitation project.

Trucks can continue to access both terminals through their main truck gates and the bridge will remain operational for personal vehicles.

The safety of the men and women who work at the Port of Baltimore is paramount. The MPA will work as quickly as possible to reopen the bridge to truck traffic once it has been fully confirmed safe to do so.
