It has been a good while since I posted anything because there has been no good news in the trucking industry. As most of you know, I am a Baltimore Port carrier, and the Key Bridge was knocked down in March. What followed was four months of total devastation. Because of our network with Evans Delivery, we could get through by redirecting our fleet to the Norfolk Port. Baltimore is slowly recovering as of today. The major problem is because of the economy. The rate levels are below what they were before the last election. The industry is still the same, and the best solution now is to be better than your competition. We are very fortunate here in Baltimore to have thirty-five loyal contractors with us for a long time. Be safe out there and keep trucking.

Good day. I have not posted anything for some time. We are now in the dreaded winter months. Everyone is fighting the cold, snow, and the winter flu season. Since we only do transportation through the Port of Baltimore and the CSX rail ramps, I will limit my remarks to those areas. 2023 was not a good year for transportation, volumes were way down, and a lot of carriers went out of business. The biggest thing I have seen for truckers was when the market was booming a lot of guys got their authority. The economy and the spot market freight crashed and fellows got stuck with high-priced pieces of equipment they didn’t need. So far in 2024, the volumes are still down. To the owner-operators who operate in the state of Maryland, a word of warning. DOT and the scale house are very active. Do your pre-trips and get any repair needed taken care of. God bless you and stay

TP Transportation is a transportation agent representing Commercial Transportation, (CTI). CTI is part of the Evans group of companies. Evans is one of the largest transportation companies in America. Like every trucking company in America, CTI is looking for CDL drivers who own their own tractors. Here at CTI we only handle ocean containers and rail trailers. Business is booming. If you are a quality CDL driver and would like to own your own tractor, talk to us about a lease purchase. Even though the truckload market is showing a little slowdown, the Port of Baltimore continues to grow. If you or know anyone who would be interested in making a change, please respond to [email protected] or check out evansdelivery .com web page.

We are heading into April and Springtime. As a Port related carrier, the Port of Baltimore continues to grow. Along with that, the shortage of trucks to handle this cargo also continues to grow. As a long-time transportation executive, I or no one has the answer on why drivers are leaving the industry or not seeking to enter the trucking industry. Drivers today face a lot of obstacles, inflation, higher fuel cost, equipment cost, meals, and home pressures. If you can overcome those obstacles there is no better time for earnings than being in the industry today. Rates have continually gone up in 2022. If you come across any owner-operators with a class A CDL license, with one year of experience, port experience, contact me at [email protected]

Well, it is Super Bowl Sunday, and it is snowing here in Baltimore. It has been a while since my last post, and nothing has changed. The Port of Baltimore remains extremely busy, and Owner-Operator are still short. For people who want to be in the trucking business, there is no better time than the present. Rates and earning are at an all-time high. Hopefully if you run across one of our Commercial Transportation Trucks (CTI) you will question them how it is to work for our company. Stay safe.

Well, we have passed Thanksgiving and heading toward Christmas. It has been a good year for the trucking industry and those drivers and owner-operators working. The Port of Baltimore continues to grow, and along with that, driver shortage also continues to increase. Because of driver shortages for long haul cargo, More customers are using rail service for the long haul cargo. The more customers use the rail. More opportunities are generated for local work and for drivers who want to be home daily. Driving a truck at one time was a very prideful occupation, so what has gone wrong in the last ten years that so many drivers have left the profession. Commercial Transportation (CTI) accepts applications for owner-operators to work in our Port drayage or our rail drayage divisions. Feel free to reach out to me with your thoughts or more information on our company. In closing, this will be the last post before the Christmas Holidays. For those who see this post, Merry Christmas to you and your families.

As someone who started as a driver and at the time was a very prideful occupation, things have changed. Truck driving has become an occupation where no one seems to want to do anymore. There are many arguments on why this is happening. Pay has not caught up to great equipment, home life, road expense. Everyone is searching for the answer. Our firm has just enacted its third rate increase for owner-operators so far this year Drivers are doing better today than any time in the last ten years. As a port-related carrier, that in its self scares drivers away. However, drivers are now compensated if they are delayed at the port. The port of Baltimore is installing more high-capacity cranes, so the port will just continue to grown. These cranes will continue to attract larger vessels and more volume. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the trucking industry. Join a team with an extremely low turnover rate.

The Port of Baltimore continues to grow at a record pace. As bigger ships with more cargo calling Baltimore, we continue to struggle with finding qualified Owner-Operators to handle the volumes. I would admit that trucking is not for everyone, however, if you are willing to work and put in the time, a good livelihood can still be obtained. We would love to have a conversation with any Owner-Operator who would like to discuss what our firm has to offer.

Spring is right around the corner and freight volumes continue to be at a high level. Bookings for service are running as high as three weeks out in Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York Ports. I don't want to get into politics, but since we have had a change, fuel has been sky rocketing. This means fuel surcharges are again up to 25% of freight bill. The trucking industry continues to struggle to fill driver and owner-operator positions. Anyone knowing qualified drivers or owner-operators, please refer them to us.
