The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat warnings and advisories for Wednesday, July 1, through Friday, July 3, which will produce dangerous conditions. Some people will face a higher risk of heat-related illness due to underlying medical conditions or certain activities.
Please take precautions to stay safe while visiting the park by following these safety tips:
• Stay hydrated - Be sure to carry extra water while recreating and drink before you feel thirsty.
• Keep cool outside - Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
• Limit exertion - Postpone strenuous hikes and similar recreation activities.
• Dress cool - Wear a hat and loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Know the signs - Check on your companions and watch for dizziness, nausea, headaches, shortness of breath, confusion, rapid pulse, and fainting.
If you or someone else experiences signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
