🐝 Looking for a Holding Yard for My Bees 🐝

I’m a local commercial beekeeper in Lafayette County, and I’m looking for a new holding yard for my semi loads of bees.

I need a decent-sized area where I can pull a semi in, turn around, and load/unload safely. Ideally, it would already be gravel or concrete so I’m not fighting mud or getting a truck stuck.

The nice thing is, I’d only need to use the property about twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall. The rest of the year, I’d basically be out of your way.

I’m willing to pay for the use of the space, although I’m a poor farmer, so we’re talking a few hundred bucks, not thousands 😂. I’d also be happy to sweeten the deal with some honey. 🍯

Did something unique tonight as an experiment. Saw a video of someone fermenting fruit for 5-7 days using honey 🍯. We are trying a berry medley, blueberries, pineapple, and jalapeño. I’m excited to see how this turns out. Has anyone ever tried this?

Well, we didn’t have all the farm crew at the lake but we had most. These guys have been sweating their butts off and getting stuff done so decided to take em to the lake to show some appreciation. Thanks guys for all that you do.

Alaric demonstrating how gentle this new line of bees we are working with is…. They are puppy dog tame and it’s overcast and about to rain. I’m very impressed. Can’t do this with every hive on every day but this is what we are working towards. These suits get hot… I would love to be suit less. …. Ps this is also from treatment free stock 😉 more to come yall

American beekeepers are facing an unfair challenge.

Honey consumption in the U.S. is at an all-time high, yet American beekeepers now supply just 17% of the market, down from 80% forty years ago.

Adulterated imported honey is one of the reasons. It undercuts American beekeepers and erodes consumer confidence in what’s really in the jar.

Today, I’m asking our beekeeping community to stand together by signing a letter supporting stronger standards for honey.

Denis and Wilfredo are out adding supers in this crazy heat today. But fortunately the bees are loving it and working just as hard. Our northern MO bees actually make some honey from soybeans when the temps get this high. Not all soybeans in all areas make honey but boy when they do they can fill boxes fast. And as you can see even in this heat Denis is making jokes and just as excited as me 😆
