This is an easy way to boost the population of a small colony. Simply move a large colony to the side and turn it a bit, and put the small one in its place. This nuc had a queen and about 20 bees to start with. Even though it looks nothing like the colony that has been moved to the left, a frame-full of bees moved in, and the queen started laying that same day! We'll learn tips like this at bee camp this spring, see more at https://beequest.buzz/index.html

I checked on the first set of queen cells yesterday. They are looking beautiful, big and fat! They should be being capped today, and will go in their new homes next Friday. Yeah!

Queen grafting for our spring nucs was scheduled for tomorrow. Snow means that has been re-scheduled for next Wed. The extra week and warmer temps should mean more queen cells accepted, well fed baby queens, more drones in the air, and stronger nucs to pull from. It's all good! It's all about the bees.
