This week at GTM West in Palm Springs was incredible!

Each day was packed with 13+ hours of collaborating with some of the top travel advisors in the U.S. while meeting with hotels, destination management companies, tourism boards, and suppliers from around the world. Investing in education like this helps me better serve you and stay ahead of the ever-changing travel industry.

Thank you so much to everyone who has given me grace this week while I’ve been a little slower than usual responding to emails and messages. Your patience means more than you know.

This morning, my “office” looks a little different. I’m standing in the pool with my laptop, catching up on emails before heading to the airport for my flight back to good old 402 this afternoon!

One thing I won’t miss? The 115°+ desert heat. Thankfully, most of our conference days were spent inside learning, networking, and soaking up as much knowledge as possible in the air conditioning.

🇲🇽 Mexico Travel
Have you seen an "updated" travel advisory for Mexico? This is NOT a new advisory level and has been in place for YEARS. The U.S. State Department recently updated its travel advisory information for Mexico ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This has caused some confusion online, but Mexico remains at a Level 2 advisory overall, which means "Exercise Increased Caution."

Keep in mind that some individual Mexican states are under higher advisory levels, but the most popular tourist destinations like Cancún, Riviera Maya, and Puerto Vallarta remain under the same advisory as they have been.

For perspective, several other popular destinations are also under a Level 2 advisory, including Greenland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Brazil, Peru, and China.

🌊 Sargassum Update
Sargassum, a naturally occurring brown seaweed found in the Caribbean, has reached record levels this year according to monitoring by the University of South Florida. Beaches in parts of Mexico, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have all experienced heavier-than-normal arrivals. While many resorts work hard to remove it daily, beach conditions can vary from day to day and even beach to beach.

🚢 Royal Caribbean's New Beach Club
Royal Caribbean Group had proposed a large private cruise destination in Mexico, but Mexican environmental authorities denied the project because the planned location sits near the world's second-largest barrier reef system, which has protected status. Future tourism development in the area will be subject to stricter environmental protections.
