October 1, 2026 — Robinaugh EMS is celebrating a major milestone this week as the family-owned and operated company marks 50 years of service to the communities of Logan County and surrounding areas.
Robinaugh EMS was founded on October 1, 1976, by the late Larry Robinaugh, following his purchase of the ambulance service from Eichholz Kennedy Funeral Home. What began as a small local ambulance operation has grown over the past five decades into an established emergency medical services organization serving patients and communities throughout the region.
The company’s first location was at 400 N. Main Street in Bellefontaine. As the operation grew, Robinaugh EMS moved in 2000 to a larger facility at 10 Hunter Place. Continued growth eventually led the company to outgrow that location as well.
Today, Robinaugh EMS operates from its current 15,000-square-foot facility at 1180 W. Columbus Avenue in Bellefontaine, with an additional satellite location in Marysville, Ohio.
A Family Business — Then and Now
One of the defining characteristics of Robinaugh EMS throughout its 50-year history has been its commitment to remaining a family-owned and operated business. There are only a few left in Ohio.
That family involvement continues today with multiple generations of the Robinaugh family working within the organization.
Today Larrys son Darin Robinaugh serves as President/CEO of Robinaugh EMS, as well as serving on the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire and Transportation Services, the Ohio Trauma Committee, and President of the Ohio Ambulance & Medical Transportation Association.
Larry Robinaugh's daughter, Barb Page, continues to be an important part of the company and oversees the organization's billing operations. In addition to managing billing for Robinaugh EMS, Barb and the billing team provide billing services for several other local EMS agencies, extending the company's expertise and services to other organizations throughout the area.
“This really is a family business in every sense of the word,” said Darin Robinaugh, President/CEO of Robinaugh EMS. “My father started this company 50 years ago, and now my son Brody and his wife Megann are involved in the administration of the business. My wife Kathleen and all my kids have worked in the business at one time or another. Seeing multiple generations working together is something our family is very proud of.”
The involvement of multiple generations reflects the company's long-term commitment to the communities it serves and its desire to continue building on the foundation established by Larry Robinaugh in 1976.
Growing Along With EMS
Over the past five decades, Robinaugh EMS has evolved alongside the emergency medical services profession. Advances in emergency medicine, technology, communications, ambulance design, training, and patient care have transformed the industry since 1976.
Robinaugh EMS has continued to grow and adapt while maintaining its focus on providing dependable emergency medical services and quality patient care.
“Our employees are the heart of Robinaugh EMS,” Robinaugh said. “Over the last 50 years, hundreds of EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, administrative staff, supervisors and others have contributed to this organization. Each person has played a role in our story, and we are grateful for their dedication.” A party to celebrate with current and former staff is scheduled for October 3rd from 12-4 at their current location.
Robinaugh EMS also recognizes the many community partners who have been part of its journey, including local fire departments, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, physicians, nurses, public officials, neighboring EMS agencies, and the residents and families who have placed their trust in the organization.
Looking Toward the Next 50 Years
As Robinaugh EMS celebrates its 50th anniversary, the company is looking ahead while honoring the foundation established by Larry Robinaugh.
“Fifty years ago, my father took a chance on building an ambulance service that would serve the people of this community,” Robinaugh said. “What he started in 1976 has grown far beyond what he could have imagined. We are incredibly proud of our history, but we are equally excited about the future.” Throughout its history, Robinaugh EMS has remained committed to serving the people of the communities where its employees live and work.
“Being family-owned means that our connection to this community is personal,” Robinaugh said. “We live here, work here, raise our families here, and care for the people who call this area home. That connection has been an important part of who we are for 50 years.”
For 50 years, Robinaugh EMS has remained committed to professional service, quality patient care, strong community relationships, and the next generation of family leadership.
