We are happy to announce that our drive through Fish Boil was a huge success this year! With the help of our members and participation from the community, we were able to raise around $1,600! This money has been allocated towards the purchase of a Life Size Fire Fighter Statue which will be an addition to the Bellevue Fire Fighter's Memorial Located in front of Station 1.

A piece of Fire Service "did you know"?

A piece of history was recently found under the streets of Portland.
Pictured here is a section of a wooden water main, aka a hollowed out log. Firefighters would have to dig a hole to reach the pipe, then drill through the wooden pipe to intentionally create a leak. The hole would fill with water so the fire engines could pump it out.

This brings an all new meaning to the term "Shoveling hydrants"!

After the incident the firefighters would seal the hole with a wooden plug, hence the term "fire plug".

Legislation that could eliminate sprinklers in 3-20 unit buildings (apartments/hotels, etc) is in the hands of your Legislature currently. See below the effectiveness of a residential sprinkler.

These sprinklers have one main purpose in a residential setting - to prevent flashover. In short, these residential sprinkler heads will release water when the sprinkler head(s) heated up >= 135 degrees F.
