We have a lot of Rotax equipped planes who fly in at Vaca Moo. Check to see if this applies to your plane.

ARMYWORMS !!!!!!

Anyone who's dealt with these just had his heart skip a beat. A few years ago I had some invade my hay fields and by the time my neighbor hitched his sprayer to the tractor and got to my house, they had already eaten part of the hay field and half of my runway.

A third of the runway is still recovering so I'm glad I noticed them this morning and attacked them quickly. I found them on the northern part of the runway so I sprayed them, which kills them instantly, and then spread dry insecticide to keep them from advancing.

Walking around for a few hours with a 3 gallon sprayer on my back in the Texas sun was not fun, but it's the only way to make sure you see them. I stopped spraying once I didn't see them anymore and then sprayed 25' more to have a buffer for the ones I might have missed.

IMPRESSIVE !!!

With a GPS and a lots of pre-flight planning, this Ohio pilot flew an outline of the continental U.S. with the inscription “USA 250th” inside of it. After more than 6 hours flying his retractable 182, it looked awesome !

Jonathan called me over the air yesterday when I was departing Athens and he was landing. Today he and his finance Pia visited us here at Vaca Moo.

It was going to be a quick hello but the weather got really bad so we put his Citabria in one of my hangars and we had dinner at my house.

Always nice to meet good people !
