It's Flag Day!
The history:
On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the "Stars and Stripes" as the original American flag. The same flag was used when the Declaration of Independence was signed to give a flag for the entire country rather than each state having their own.

Since 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14th. Americans have commemorated the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in many ways–displaying the flag in the front of their homes, parades, and other patriotic observances.
Especially today:

Dear friends….

Please take a moment to remember and reflect on June 6, 1944……. D-Day.

Please take a moment to prayer for those Americans and Allied troops who were lost on this day, 81 years ago, today.
Please remember ’the greatest generation’ is responsible for your freedom.

Please take a moment to educate yourself about D -Day.
Here’s a brief summary.

D-Day was the name given to the June 6, 1944, invasion of the beaches at Normandy in northern France by troops from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries during World War II. France at the time was occupied by the armies of N**i Germany, and the amphibious assault—codenamed Operation Overlord—landed some 156,000 Allied soldiers on the beaches of Normandy by the end of the day.

Despite their success, some 4,000 Allied troops were killed by German soldiers defending the beaches. At the time, the D-Day invasion was the largest naval, air and land operation in history, and within a few days about 326,000 troops, more than 50,000 vehicles and some 100,000 tons of equipment had landed.

By August 1944, all of northern France had been liberated, and in spring of 1945 the Allies had defeated the Germans. Historians often refer to D-Day as the beginning of the end of World War II.

National Peace Officers Memorial Day

We want to remember and honor all federal, state, county and local officers who were killed or disabled in the line of duty.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week.

I have, unfortunately, had the honor of laying many Peace Officers to rest with our horse drawn caisson and horse drawn hearse.

Their sacrifice can never be repaid. There families can never be helped to recover from the loss and sorrow.

Thank a Peace Officer every chance you get. PLEASE!!
