If you've ever met Sybil, our Metalheads Boutique mascot you know she isn't just my dog. She's my shadow, my sidekick and my constant companion. Many of you know her as my adventure buddy, my camping partner, my studio assistant and the sweet face that has greeted countless visitors and clients over the years. She's been by my side through life's biggest highs and lowest lows ever since we left Maui. She's the kind of unconditional love only a dog can give.
Yesterday, I took her to the vet because of what I thought was a painful wound on her paw after we returned from camping. I expected antibiotics and a bandage. Instead, routine bloodwork revealed something far more serious. After an in-house blood panel, our family vet East Bend Animal Hospital found results consistent with an Addisonian crisis, a life-threatening condition where the adrenal glands stop producing essential hormones like cortisol. She was admitted to VRCCO Emergency yesterday afternoon and spent the night on IV fluids, electrolytes, and steroid therapy while the team worked to stabilize her. Additional testing was performed to confirm Addison's disease.
None of this was expected. Just a couple of weeks ago, during her annual wellness exam, her bloodwork looked completely normal. The cost of Sybil's emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, and ongoing treatment is already approaching $5,000. The good news is that because we caught this in time, Addison's disease is treatable and manageable with lifelong care. She'll need monthly injections, regular monitoring, and follow-up appointments to keep her healthy. I put everything on credit so she could receive treatment immediately because there wasn't another option. She needed emergency care to survive.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me. If you know me, you know I'd much rather be the one helping someone else. But right now, I need my community.
If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If donating isn't possible, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family would mean the world to us. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Sybil's emergency veterinary expenses, follow-up care, and paying down the CareCredit balance before high interest begins to accrue.

As a small thank-you, I'd love to give something back. If you'd like, I'd be honored to offer a professional headshot session or create a personalized piece from my shop, Metalheads Boutique, as my way of expressing my gratitude. There is absolutely no obligation to choose a thank-you gift.
Your kindness alone means everything. The best news is that Sybil is home. She's exhausted, but she's resting, eating and already seems so much happier. We still have a road ahead of us, but we're incredibly grateful she's still here.
Thank you for loving our sweet girl, for your prayers, your messages, and your support. I'll continue posting updates as we learn more.
With love & gratitude, Megan, Sybil, her boys and Frankie ππ»β€οΈβπ©ΉπΎβ¨
