Tough week of work with volumes significantly down across the board. Much more searching involved in sourcing business, and while great opportunities still exist they do require an uneasy dose of flexibility. Customers wait longer before tendering and exploit more solutions as options increased, especially in the dry van segment. We are seeing thawing markets conditions in the south, and were able to come out of FL without taking a beating on a few occasions. The IL/WI market was surprisingly quiet, with a few heavy hitters not shipping at all and others shopping around and holding shipments or going the LTL route. Atlanta is hot one day and cold the next, TX/OK are dismal with the exception of the Houston market (albeit still nowhere near what we had experienced last year). The northeast was the easiest region to get out of, due to historically low hazmat capacity and a mini availability crunch caused by record snowfall in New England...A few more weeks and the south should loosen up and Chicago get back into our more usual pattern, but until then patience and flexibility will be our best allies.
Those who did well this week great job (a few had a stellar week) and for those who had a bit of a tougher go let's setup a time to discuss what we can do better!

Well done everyone, we had a solid week despite the horrible weather, special mentions this week to Mrs V (barking orders with the raspiest voice I have ever heard), 1048 1051 1073 1094 1099 and especially 1060!! - you know who you are and you made us proud! We'll be finishing loading out a few trailers at the dock in the morning, one day of rest and back at it!
