Did you know Spaceship Earth is actually pretty phenomenal?
This focal point for Epcot took 26 months to build. Can you imagine the labor costs for that many workers for over two years? It was definitely worth it though because it is such an iconic focal point!
Spaceship Earth is the world’s largest freestanding sphere. The comical thing, though? It isn’t actually a perfect sphere 🤫 it’s a bit long from top to bottom.
Some other fun facts include: it weighs in at 16,000,000 pounds, stands 180 feet tall, and is about 150,000 square feet around!
Think about his truly spectacular this structure is, and really a pretty major feat pulled off by Construction crews in 1982 when technology wasn’t nearly what it is today!
