Our primary need right now is for Owner Operators hauling plant-to-plant food-grade dairy freight originating out of Michigan. Central and Southern Michigan fit many of these lanes especially well and can provide some of the best opportunities for frequent home time while keeping your truck productive.

You do not have to live in Michigan. The right locations throughout WI, MI, IL, IN and OH can work depending on how your home location fits our existing freight network and the Michigan freight we need covered.

We also have freight throughout the Upper Midwest and beyond, with opportunities for Owner Operators who want to help cover additional or longer lanes as customer freight needs change.

Final lane availability, revenue potential and home-time opportunities depend on your exact home location, availability, how much you want to run and current customer freight needs.

🚛 TRACTOR REQUIREMENTS & FLEET IMAGE

We are just as selective about the tractor as we are about the Owner Operator.

KR Transport operates a clean, professional fleet, and tractors leased to us need to complement that image.

• Primarily looking for Peterbilt & Kenworth tractors
• Mid-roof sleeper or similar configuration required
• NO tall/high-roof sleepers due to low-clearance customer facilities
• 12’ overall tractor height or under preferred — slightly taller tractors may work depending on configuration and assigned lanes
• 21,000 lbs or less with full fuel preferred
• Greaseless fifth wheel required
• Tractor must have a clean, professional appearance inside and out
• Equipment must be mechanically sound and well maintained

Tractors with excessive body damage, mismatched panels, significant cosmetic issues, poor maintenance, or an overall appearance that doesn’t meet our fleet standards will not be accepted.

Final tractor approval is at KR Transport’s discretion based on make, configuration, height, weight, condition, maintenance and overall fleet appearance.

🔧 INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE STANDARDS

• Tractor must pass a KR Transport in-house DOT inspection before being accepted
• Tractor must pass another DOT inspection every 3 months while leased to KR Transport
• Owner Operator is responsible for maintaining the tractor and keeping it DOT compliant between inspections
• Safety and maintenance defects must be corrected promptly
• Tractor must continue meeting our mechanical and appearance standards

✅ DRIVER & OWNER-OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 23 years old
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL-A tractor-trailer experience
• Valid CDL-A with tanker endorsement

🚛 ROUTE & SCHEDULE

• Typically 4 loads per week

• Leave home Sunday evening and typically return home Thursday afternoon/evening

⚠️ This is an active farm pickup position — NOT a drop-and-hook route.

This position involves picking up milk directly from area dairy farms and delivering primarily into Beaver Dam, WI. We’re looking for a driver who wants to take ownership of their work, takes pride in their job and equipment, and understands the importance of building good working relationships with the farms they service.

📍 FLEXIBLE TRUCK STAGING

You do NOT need to live in Horicon.

The truck can remain staged in Horicon OR may be staged at the driver’s home if their location reasonably works within the route area and is approved by KR Transport.

Home staging must have a safe and secure location with adequate room for the truck and trailer and access to a standard electrical outlet to plug the truck in when needed.

KR Transport LLC is hiring full-time company drivers for year-round food-grade tanker freight operating throughout the Midwest.

📍 Preferred Hiring Area

We are currently hiring drivers who live in the Grand Rapids, MI area or within approximately 50 miles of our primary operating routes.

Drivers living in the Grand Rapids area typically have more opportunities to get by the house between runs while helping us minimize unnecessary deadhead miles.

Applicants must have a safe and legal location to park a truck and trailer and access to electrical power for winter truck plug-in needs.

Freight

• Primary freight originates in the Grand Rapids, MI area
• Regular deliveries throughout the Midwest and surrounding regions, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Alabama, and additional customer locations as needed
• Plant-to-plant food-grade tanker freight
• Year-round freight

Schedule & Home Time

• Loading and delivery times vary based on customer schedules, operational needs, and available hours of service
• Drivers living in the Grand Rapids area should have opportunities to get by the house between runs depending on where they live
• Home time opportunities vary depending on freight and how loads are scheduled
• We strive to provide every other weekend off whenever freight volume and scheduling allow
• Dairy transportation operates 365 days per year, so weekend and holiday work are required

Driver Requirements

✔ Valid Class A CDL
✔ Tanker endorsement required
✔ 18-speed manual transmission experience required
✔ Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience preferred
✔ Safe and legal location to park a truck and trailer
✔ Access to electrical power for winter truck plug-in

✔ Must maintain a clean, organized truck inside and out
✔ Must take pride in maintaining company equipment and representing KR Transport professionally
✔ Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic
