Who's ready for warmer weather and sunshine?

With Spring just 20 days away, it is always a good time to be prepared. Here are some important tips to ensure your safety while on the road.

1.) Spring weather often brings rain showers; ensure you remain vigilant when driving in wet conditions. Look out for potholes that may be hiding beneath puddles!

2.) With warmer comes more sun glare. Ensure that your visor is correctly positioned. If cannot see, pull over and wait it is safe to drive again.

3.) You are not the only one on the road. Be on the lookout for construction, wildlife, children at play, and bicyclists.

4.) Lastly, with the arrival of spring weather comes the pollen. Ensure you check your allergy medications before driving, as many can cause drowsiness and impair your ability to drive.

Did you know that when the roads are icy, it can take your vehicle ten times longer to come to a stop?

If you must drive in snowy conditions, exercise common sense: Reduce your speed, remain vigilant, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and be cautious of slick spots and patches of ice. In the event of slipping, do not panic. Immediately remove your foot from the accelerator and avoid pressing the brake pedal forcefully. Ensure that snow, ice, and slush are cleared from your windshield, roof, headlights, fenders, and wheel wells.

Additional tips to enhance safety while driving in snowy or icy conditions include:
• Use AWD or 4WD
• Don’t use cruise control
• Look out for black ice
• Steer in the direction of your skid

How prepared are you on the road in case of an emergency?

Every vehicle should be equipped with essential items such as a spare tire, wheel wrench, and jack. Additionally, jumper cables, a multipurpose tool, and a first aid kit are crucial. Flashlights with extra batteries and reflective triangles are also important to increase your vehicle's visibility, especially at night. Being overprepared is always preferable to being in need without these essentials.

Take a look at the website below for the complete list of car emergency essentials.

Are you one of the millions of people who will travel over the Thanksgiving holiday?

With Thanksgiving approaching, thoughts naturally turn to gathering with family and enjoying a sumptuous meal. However, in the midst of the excitement and celebration, it's vital to keep safety at the forefront.

• Monitor the weather closely: Keep an eye on the forecast for your current location, your destination, and all points in between. Be ready to allocate additional time if you encounter storms or hazardous conditions.

• Prepare your vehicle for winter driving: To prevent hazards such as tire blowouts, arrange for a thorough inspection and take care of any necessary maintenance, especially focusing on your tires.

Did you know on average about 2 million accidents are caused by deer each year?

Pennsylvania ranks third among the top 20 states at risk for wildlife-vehicle collisions. The deer mating season, which spans from October to January, significantly increases the likelihood of encountering deer on the road. Here are some tips to ensure your safety while driving during the autumn season.

- Deer are typically more active from dawn to dusk, so it's important to remain vigilant.
- Always wear your seatbelt.
- If you encounter a deer, stop; do not swerve. Look in the direction the deer came in for more following.
- Use your horn to scare the deer away if necessary.
