It’s hot…well, for us that means 82 degrees, but we might hit 84 this week before the forecast dips back into the 70’s by Sunday. Nighttime lows are around 50 degrees. The 20 degree difference between 4500 in the valley and 9150ft at the lake is remarkable.
 
The Lake
The fish seem unfazed by the heat…no doubt a benefit of the lake being fed primarily by snowmelt and springs.  Consistent stocking by the CA DFW and a few loads of Idaho Rainbows, including one last week, mean plenty of fish to go around. Boaters seem to be doing much better than shore anglers lately.
 
Hot Lures – Wonder bread Thomas Buoyants, Sierra Slammers minijigs in white, Chrome Bikini Needlefish.
 
Top Baits – Micetails, inflated crawlers, anything garlic scented
 
Hot Spots – Inlets, west shore, channel to main lake.
 
How? – Bait dunkers are getting bit a little deeper water in coves, off points and around rock piles. Trolling on top has been dynamite. Toss a spoon (make sure you have a swivel on it), and drag it around until something happens.
 
Store, Pie, Boats & Beer Counter 7am-6pm daily.

Café Grill is open 8am-3pm Thursday – Sunday.
