New mountaintop home build in Black Mountain, NC - five steel ceiling beams to place, 22 to 27 feet long and about 1,500 lbs each.

One of those beams needed placed just beyond the reach of our crane.

We flagged the gap during our site visit and agree with the homeowner to attempt the placement on lift day - only if it could be done safely. Here’s how we pulled it off, and why jobs like this one are a good reminder of why we spend so much time planning bed a single beam ever leaves the ground.

Every project is taken seriously, but some are just more important than others. It’s spring break here in the North Carolina mountains and it’s time to build a tree fort. We’re using the crane truck to lift heavy parts into place. It’s cherished father son time, and a chance to teach new skills.

Up! Up! Lifting responded to a client's same-day request. The crane truck job for the day - pick up dumpsters South of Atlanta and place them at customer locations in Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Clyde, and Canton.

It was a long day, starting out from our home base in Black Mountain, NC, making the round trip to just South of Atlanta, GA, and placing each of the 6 dumpsters back in NC.

When a freight mishap left a 500-lb naloxone vending machine on its side in a Rutherfordton warehouse, Up! Up! Lifting got the call. They engaged us for crane truck services, and ultimately got a partner on the other side of the country to see a challenging project across the finish line.

Our client — Overdose Kits, a Washington state distributor of life-saving naloxone products — needed boots on the ground to assess the damage and complete delivery to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department.

We uprighted the machine with our knuckleboom crane, replaced a broken wheel, uncrated it, photographed the damage, and tested it for functionality. Once it was greenlit for delivery, we loaded it up and headed to the Sheriff's Department — where we removed a door to fit it through the entry, then reconfigured the internal tray system so it could be stocked and put into service.

We used our crane truck to help this homeowner remove a 600 LB grill and entire outdoor kitchen from a raised deck - no sweat, no strain, no problem.

The group that brought it up the first time, kindly said "Don't call us to get it back down."

Up! Up! Lifting used its knuckleboom crane truck to place four stacks of Massaranduba lumber with precision on a challenging single-lane road in Lake Lure — no ground staging, no damage, no delays.

A lakeside property owner in Lake Lure, NC selected Massaranduba — also known as Brazilian Redwood — for a new deck and several other applications on their property. They purchased the Massaranduba, a premium exotic hardwood, from the specialty lumber dealer Scrounger’s Paradise in Asheville, NC.

They opted for an articulated crane to deliver the valuable lumber for several reasons. At 18 feet long, a moffett would be unable to manipulate the lumber on the narrow road, in addition to the delivery truck not being able to navigate the tight turns. Delivering via a tilt bed to slide the lumber off would result in unnecessary damage to the wood, while not also not achieving a tight placement to the side of the road.

Our knuckleboom crane truck with a flatbed was the ideal solution for this building materials delivery.

Up! Up! Lifting recently completed a commercial truss lifting and placement engagement for CW Brown Construction in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This project is a strong example of how our knuckleboom crane truck supports Western North Carolina contractors with precise, efficient structural lifts—even when jobsite conditions present real-world challenges.

Trusses demand a high level of precision during placement. Each one must be set exactly where the framing crew needs it so they can nail it off and add stabilization without delay. A missed placement or poor sequencing can ripple through the entire project timeline.

Up! Up! Lifting worked with the CW Brown crew to advise on staging locations. Based on our crane's reach and equipment capabilities, we identified where trusses should be staged on the ground to minimize unnecessary crane movement and maximize lift efficiency.

For each structure, we positioned our crane truck in three separate locations around the building. This allowed us to cover all placement zones and set all 17 trusses without relocating more than necessary—keeping the job moving smoothly and safely.

This week we had the pleasure of working with CW Brown Construction on their project in Hendersonville, NC. They called in Up! Up! Lifting to lift and place trusses on two structures.

We collaborated with their crew to lift and place 17 trusses on each building. Every member of their team had great communication and was extremely efficient. We were able to quickly and safely place all the trusses within the alotted timeframe.

Heavy rains earlier in the week presented a challenging, muddy job site, but we were able to navigate with ground protection mats and complete our scope of the engagement successfully.

Up! Up! Lifting was engaged by a private land owner in Marshall, NC to help build a retaining wall next to their drive. We loaded up with precast cement blocks at Carolina Ready Mix & Builders Supply in Swannanoa and transported to them to Marshall.

On this project, we had an opportunity to collaborate with ⁩ . They terraced the hillside perfectly with an excavator, so that blocks could be placed in a stepped two row layout.

The 2x2x3 foot precast blocks weigh 1,800 LBS. Our articulated knuckleboom crane has a 31ft reach, with an 1,800 LB capacity at full extension. We were able to place each block carefully, quickly, and with precision. Mountain View Grading took over placing blocks at the limit of our crane extension.
