We don’t often hear the ways our NorthAmerican Van Lines drivers impact the lives of others while travelling the highways, but we wanted to share this amazing story with all of you.

Scott Delano, who drives for ABC Moving & Storage out of Portland, ME was travelling on I-80 on Saturday, September 4th, just 20 miles inside the Georgia line when he came across a serious accident. With little concern for his own safety, Scott safely parked his truck and immediately ran to a woman, who was ejected from her vehicle. The woman was unresponsive and not breathing. Scott, a trained and certified paramedic performed CPR and maintained her breathing until the paramedics arrived and air lifted her to the nearest hospital. The local police officer on the scene thanked Scott for saving her life. She had two children in the car, who were also transported to a nearby hospital with minimal injuries, but clearly traumatized. The accident victim’s father spoke to the police officer and reached out to obtain Scott’s phone number to offer his heartfelt thank-you for saving his daughters life. When we reached out to Scott and thanked him as well, he stated the following: “I did not do this for the recognition, I did it because I care about people. I am just one guy who was in the right place at the right time.”

Scott was honored with the “Highway Hero Award” for his unselfish and courageous action.

I’m sure this story touches all of us, but none more than the family of the injured woman.
