🚧✈️ CONSTRUCTION UPDATE | Blair Executive Airport

Work continues to move forward on the Blair Executive Airport Runway Extension Project! While recent rain has created some challenges, crews have continued making progress whenever conditions allow.

Here’s what’s coming up:
⚡ Private Utilities – OPPD and Cox are expected to complete their final borings and connections next week.

🚧 Perimeter Fencing – Between rain events, the contractor was able to install a significant portion of the new perimeter fencing. Final placement of gates along the new fence line will follow.

🚜 Grading & Restoration – Once soil conditions allow, crews will begin restoring areas impacted by the recent rains and private utility installations. Ditches and slopes will be restored and prepared for seeding and erosion-control measures.

🛑 Road Signs – You’ll also begin seeing new road signs installed along the new roadway alignments.

⚠️ PLEASE RESPECT ROAD CLOSED BARRICADES

We are still seeing non-construction traffic driving around “Road Closed” barricades and through the active construction area. Please do not drive around these barricades. Crews are still actively working throughout the project area completing final tasks.

We’re just as excited as everyone else to see these new roadways open! We’ll let you know as soon as they are ready for public use.

🛫 RUNWAY CLOSURES CONTINUE
Daily runway closures will continue from 7:00 AM–7:00 PM until grading operations are completed.

It’s time for another Fly-In Friday, where we give you a look at the numbers behind the Blair Executive Airport and just how much activity is happening right here at KBTA!
📊 September 2026 Operations:
✈️ 497 Total Operations
🛬 235 Landings
🛫 250 Takeoffs
🔄 12 Go-Arounds

🚧 And there’s an important piece of context behind those numbers!

Throughout September, the runway was closed on several days for approximately 12 hours at a time while work continued on the Airport Runway Extension Project.

Even with those significant periods when aircraft could not arrive or depart, KBTA still recorded nearly 500 operations during September!

The numbers also show the variety of activity happening here. 92% of September operations were general aviation, with everything from piston aircraft and helicopters to turboprops and jets utilizing KBTA.

✈️ FLY-IN FRIDAY | What’s Happening at KBTA?

Welcome to our first Fly-In Friday! Each Friday, we’ll give you a look at the latest operations numbers from the Blair Executive Airport and show just how much activity is happening right here at KBTA.

📊 September Operations through September 24:

🛫 407 Total Operations
🛬 191 Landings
✈️ 207 Takeoffs
🔄 9 Go-Arounds

And there’s some important context behind those numbers! 🚧

As work continues on the Runway Extension Project, our runway has been closed several days this month for approximately 10–12 hours at a time. Even with those extended closures, we’ve already recorded more than 400 operations this month!

From general aviation and business travel to training, helicopters, air taxi operations and aircraft simply stopping in Blair along their journey, there’s a lot more happening at your local airport than you might realize.

That’s exactly what Fly-In Friday is all about!

✈️ WELCOME TO THE BLAIR EXECUTIVE AIRPORT! | KBTA

We’re excited to kick off our new social media pages by giving you a look at just how active the Blair Executive Airport really is!

📊 According to our July 2026 Operations Report provided by 1200.aero KBTA recorded:

✈️ 1,948 total aircraft operations
🛬 913 landings
🛫 983 takeoffs
🔄 52 go-arounds

That’s nearly 2,000 aircraft operations in just one month!

One of the things we hope to accomplish with these new pages is to give our community a better look at who uses the Blair Executive Airport and why it matters.

A common misconception is that a general aviation airport is simply a place for wealthy individuals or private jets. In reality, airports like KBTA serve a much broader range of users.

Our airport supports general aviation pilots, flight training, business and economic activity, military operations, helicopters, emergency and medical aviation, aircraft stopping for fuel, visitors coming into our community, and much more. The July data even shows the wide variety of aircraft types and operations taking place right here in Blair.

The Blair Executive Airport is a busy transportation and public-use asset serving City of Blair, Nebraska, Washington County, and the surrounding region and we want to show you more of it!
