Under an overcast sky, we congratulate Daniel Rose on the occasion of his first glider solo flight. Daniel came to us as a licensed ASEL pilot, but he did have a glider logbook with one entry from 1979. So, now, 45 years later he is completing his training to join the ranks of soaring pilots. Congratulations to Jamie Cruz for his first solo flight. Jamie has worked diligently all year to accomplish this feat, and when he's not flying he provides expert volunteer ground services, helping to move around, launch and recover gliders. Jamie performed his solo flight in our newest Schweitzer SGS 2-33 glider, knicknamed "Windy". He plans to continue progress towards his Private Pilot Glider license. Congratulations to Dan Steinberg, our first student to solo in 2024. Dan started his training last fall in our demanding Schweitzer 2-32 glider, and has made it his mission to show it who's boss. We haven't posted much this season, but we've been busy. It's been a great soaring season, and just this past week we have four new solo students. Nick and Max have soloed in the Schweitzer 2-33, and Antonio and Cameron have soloed in the Schweitzer 2-32. They are pictured below with their instructors, Kevin and Mike.

In addition to flight instruction, Jersey Ridge Soaring provides beautiful scenic glider rides over the Delaware Water Gap, Appalachian Trail and the general area around Blairstown, NJ. Glider rides make great gifts, and we offer gift certificates. Call for details about rides or instruction.
