Capt Scott Fisher was raised in Charlotte harbor, spending hundreds of days a year scouting and fishing the areas around the harbor. Weather your experienced or new to the game we have all the right equipment and knowledge to guide you along and make your experience a memorable o
ne. The boat I choose to fish out of as well the one I rebuilt with my own hands is a 1974 24' Proline bay boat which lets me drift across 8 inches of water and handle waves as we venture offshore. Capt Carter prefers to fish off of his 20ft young flats boat which offers a smooth and dry ride. Capt Carter has been a local for over 30 years and promises to offer your a trip you will never forget. Both Captains at Hooked On Charters work very closely with local Captains as well as bait and tackle shop to gather the latest information and tackle. We offer a variety of pickup locations spanning from Placida up to Punta Gorda down to Pine Island. With a quick chat via phone or email we can recommend a handful of friendly hotels and dinning options. Capt Fisher will fish up to 3 people at a time but will take up to 4 on a trip. Capt Carter will take a maximum of 3 clients per trip. What you need to bring: Sunscreen, food, sunglasses, preferably a good no slip shoe, and a good attitude . Large party? We can accommodate up to 8 customers. Megalops, AKA Tarpon are the greatest gamefish we have in South west Florida, if not the entire world. A fish that averages 4-8 feet long, weighs potentially more than the state record of 243lbs and can lung themselves up to 10 feet in the air, wow that sounds like fun! Although their meat is not desirable this fish will make for a great fight and a long lasting memory. Since the Tarpon are migratory fish they cannot be caught consistently year round, I only offer trips certain months out of the year. These months range from April- October, but the best and hottest months are May, June and July. Charlotte Harbor is the second largest saltwater body of water in Florida and is fed by two large natural rivers (Peace and the Myakka River). During the months of May and June we experience a "Hill Tide". This is caused on our new and full moon phases. This causes a large amount of water in Charlotte Harbor to flush out millions of Calico Crabs (Tarpon Candy) on the surface out of Boca Grade pass in a matter of a few hours, causing a feeding frenzy amongst the Tarpon. Our live wells will be loaded up with crabs ready to cast at the hungry tarpon. On these select tides it is not uncommon to hook several fish in a matter of hours along with every other boat in the area doing the same. When booking a Tarpon trip at Hooked On Charters please ask about the Hill Tide and the dates of the tide to increase the action and experience.
