Storage unit cleanout this morning, trailer backed right up to the door. Dressers, shelving, boxes and a bunch of odds and ends packed in tight — we pull it out piece by piece and set the good furniture on the trailer first so it stacks flat. Units fill up quick when you're paying month to month and not opening the door much.

Stopped at the Goodwill donation center before the dump run. Anything still in good shape — furniture, decor, a side table, that headboard — gets dropped here instead of thrown out, so we sort it on the truck as we load. Not everything from a cleanout is junk, and it's worth the extra stop.

Side yard cleanout along the fence line. An old crate full of wicker and burlap, a chair cushion, a floor lamp, plywood, a busted planter and some odd scrap all tucked into the corner where stuff tends to collect. Narrow spots like this take a few trips out to the truck, but the dirt strip is clear when we're done.

Inside a packed garage today, working piece by piece toward the door. Cushions, an old range, shelving and a whole lot of loose debris on the floor — the trick is clearing a path first, then everything else has somewhere to go. Garages fill up quietly over the years, and it takes a couple sets of hands to get one back.

Doors open, load packed to the top. Pallets, broken concrete, carpet pad, scrap lumber and an old plywood cabinet all riding out together — mixed loads like this are the norm on a cleanout. Once it's stacked tight the doors close and the property is clear.

A look straight down at the setup: trailer parked along the curb, ramp down onto the grass strip, and a few pieces of scrap already in the box. Working from the sidewalk means shorter carries and less tracking through the yard. Still early in this one, but the trailer will be full before we pull out.

Old recliner, two guys, one lift into the truck. Furniture like this is awkward more than heavy, so we grab both ends and walk it up rather than drag it across somebody's driveway. Nice clear sky over the neighborhood today, which makes the loading a lot easier.

Curbside pile day. Everything stacked along the sidewalk here — old furniture, wire kennel, cushions, scrap — is getting walked up into the truck one armload at a time. August sun makes it warm work, but the driveway and grass strip end up clear by the time we pull out.
