What would the fourth of July be without fireworks? Thanks to mining, we will never have to know! 🎆🎇

The science behind celebrating our Independence Day tradition starts from the ground. Fireworks rely on natural minerals to create their vibrant colors. When elements such as copper, strontium, and sodium are heated to extreme temperatures, they release energy that produces the beautiful reds, whites, and blues that light up the sky.

We are proud to be a part of the industry that helps bring people together and keep these traditions alive. Happy 250th Birthday America! 🌭

Long before Idaho earned the nickname “The Gem State,” miners were drawn to this land because of its rich deposits of gold, silver, lead, and other valuable minerals.

When Idaho became a state on July 3rd, 1890, mining was the leading industry for resources and occupation. This legacy is shown in the Great Seal of Idaho. Designed by Emma Edwards Green, the Seal features a miner holding a pick and shovel with pieces of ore scattered around his feet, symbolizing the impact of mining on Idaho’s early growth and development.

136 years later, mining still plays a significant role in Idaho's economy by supporting communities with quality job opportunities and producing essential minerals for our state and nation.

We are proud to honor our rich history, and excited to educate our fellow Idahoans about the great strides modern mining continues to make in keeping our home beautiful.

Happy Idaho Day!

Great News for Idaho!

The Ninth Circuit denied a temporary stay in Save the South Fork Salmon v. Perpetua Resources Idaho, Inc. The decision allows construction activities at the Stibnite Gold Project to continue moving forward and marks another step toward strengthening America’s domestic mineral supply chain and supporting responsible resource development.

Our state is rich in minerals, and one of them is phosphate.

Idaho is home to some of our nation's largest and most significant phosphate reserves.

Last week, with the help of Simplot Company, Bayer, and Itafos Conda, we gave Idaho lawmakers a behind the scenes look at how phosphate is mined and processed into phosphate fertilizer, used to grow crops all across North America.

The Idaho Mining Association is proud of the work our Idaho phosphate mines and manufacturers are doing to help feed our nation, all while ensuring the reclamation and restoration of the land when the life of a mine comes to an end.

A special thank you to our Idaho legislators for taking time to join us in the phosphate patches and learn more about this vital mineral.

Good news worth sharing!

According to the Department of Labor, 2025 mining injury rates in the United States dropped to a record low.

Behind that number are stronger safety standards, better training, smarter technology, and a continued focus on protecting workers on the job. Progress like this shows what’s possible when safety stays front and center.

There’s always more to do, but this is a step in the right direction.
