And just like that… the Wieners are on the move again. 😂✈️

Today we’re trading Maine foliage for California sunshine.

Dad and Ben handled the highly glamorous luggage department, the bags are packed, and we’re officially headed west.

One thing I love about our crazy back-and-forth life is that the scenery can change completely in a matter of hours.

We’ve been plotting our route SOUTH from Maine toward Asheville, and now the list is starting to get interesting. 🚐🌲

A few places we’re looking at along the way:

🌲 Delaware Water Gap
🏘️ Harpers Ferry
⛰️ Shenandoah National Park
🚗 Skyline Drive — definitely a CAR adventure for us, not a 65-foot Wiener train 😂
🌄 Blue Ridge Parkway
🌲 Pisgah National Forest once we get to the Asheville area

We’ll be around Asheville for at least 10 days, so we should have plenty of time to park the beast and let the car do the wandering.

Which one is a MUST… and is there something nearby we’re completely missing?

Scenic stops, weird roadside stuff, great food, waterfalls, little towns and trolls are all fair game. 😂

Well… this is going to be a bit of a wardrobe adjustment. 😂

We’re heading to Huntington Beach tomorrow for Ben’s gig, leaving behind cold, rainy, windy weather from this nor’easter and heading straight into sunshine and temps in the 80s. ☀️🌴

I am NOT complaining.

California, here we come. ✈️

Yes, we are officially counting.

Between now and December 3, you’re coming along for the planning too... dining, excursions, packing, cruise prep and probably a few questionable decisions along the way. 😂

🌎 BUCKET LIST CHECK: HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS

Did you know Hot Springs, Arkansas was federally protected in 1832... decades before Yellowstone became the first national park? 😲

People had been coming to the area’s thermal springs for generations, and by the late 1800s Hot Springs had become known as the “Great American Spa.”

Today, Bathhouse Row still has eight historic bathhouse buildings, and one of them has operated continuously for more than a century.

And here’s the part I didn’t know: the National Park Service still manages the thermal-water system that supplies the historic bathhouses. ♨️

This feels like one of those U.S. places that gets overshadowed by the giant national parks, but it has such a fascinating story.

🌭✈️ THE WIENERS ARE HEADING WEST!

Looks like Ben’s music career is taking me back to California. 😂🎸

We’re flying out September 28 because Ben and The Original Striker are playing ROCKFEST ’26 at Mount Palomar Winery in Temecula on October 2.

And since we’re flying all the way across the country for a gig…

you KNOW I’m going to capitalize on it. 😂

So while we’re there, I’m planning to squeeze in:

🏓 Some pickleball — obviously
❤️ Time with friends
🍷 A little Temecula w**e country
🎸 Ben’s show
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 And on October 4, we’re off to see the kids and grands ❤️

Basically, Ben said “I have a gig in California.”

And I heard…

“Great! Let’s make a trip out of it.” 😂

Today feels a little different. ❤️

Nathan was Mallory's cousin. I haven't seen him in more than 17 years, so I won't pretend that I knew the young man he grew up to be the way so many others did.

But I have watched this unfold through the eyes of a mother.

And it has hit me hard.

Nathan was only 25 years old. He fought so incredibly hard, and it's obvious from everything I've seen and read just how many people he touched in those 25 years.

Yesterday I read something his brother wrote about being with him as he was leaving this world. He told him:

“Well done, Nathan. You put up a hell of a fight.”

I cried.

Maybe it's because I'm a mom. Maybe it's because 25 is just far too young. Maybe it's thinking about a family having to say goodbye to someone they love so much.

Probably all of it.

Mallory flew back to California for Nathan's memorial today, and I've been thinking about her and the entire family this morning.

I hope today brings some comfort in being together. I hope there are stories and laughter mixed in with the tears. And I hope they feel just how much Nathan mattered to so many people.

Twenty-five years wasn't nearly enough.

But clearly, love leaves a mark. ❤️
