Check out this 5 star Google Reviews review by Garrett Carmody: We rented from Captain Bob today and had an AWESOME time. Boat was great, very clean, radio with Bluetooth too. We rented a tube and the 4 kids we had with us had a blast. We stopped and had a picnic on one of the islands also. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Price was great too. Easily navigable boat, super responsive, plenty of speed and the entire family enjoyed the whole day on Lake George. We fished, tubed, and gazed in awe at the incredible backdrops everywhere we went! OUR RAIN POLICY. If it is raining here in Bolton Landing that morning you are scheduled to pick up your rental boat between 8 and 10 AM then YOU may choose to use your deposit for another time, WITHOUT EXPIRATION, no refunds.
We explain this policy when taking reservations on the phone, and then again in writing via email which people have to agree to before we charge their credit card.
That doesn't mean to call ahead days in advance because of a poor weather forecast and try and change the date, WE WILL NOT. If its raining the day of your reservation then you can either call or come into the office and receive a RAIN CREDIT as you were promised, to use another day of your choosing, subject to availability. We have had people use a rain credits the next day and as far out as a year later.
We believe this is a fair policy. We take reservations so we know our boats are rented and so you know you have a boat to use. The other option is to call or come into the office the day you want to rent a boat and hope there is one available for you.
This policy does not apply to multiple day rentals.

Good morning Captain Bob here, its April 9 and its time to return to the lake. The last signs of winter are quickly subsiding and the flowers will be blooming soon. Its time to make your plans to come to the lake this season and get out on one of our great pontoon boats. We look forward to seeing everyone at the lake. What happens at the lake stays at the lake.

“Awesome Rental for an Awesome Trip” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2015 A group of 10 of us rented Captain Bob's 22' pontoon for our annual camping trip. This was our first time renting from Bob. After calling a few marinas we chose captain Bob because he gave us the best price on a 4 day rental. The pontoon he rented to us had a 115 horsepower motor. You won't find any other pontoon rentals with an outboard over 90. The extra power made it easy for us to load up the boat with people and gear. It also made for a great fishing boat. “Awesome time on the lake. Best place to rent pontoon boats!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2015 Captain Bob’s is a great place for pontoon boat rentals. A group of 13-15 of us made a trip here two years in a row during the May to July time frame. Bob always gives us a fair price and there are no hassles when you get there. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to rent a pontoon boat. We will keep the tradition of coming here at least once a year for many years to come. “Second time renting here” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2015 This is the second year in a row now that my friends and I have rented a pontoon boat at Captain Bob's. We haven't had any problems, and will look forward to renting here again next year. Both the boats we rented were clean and in good repair. Captain Bob has also been nice enough to let me keep my dog tied up on site while out on the lake (last year because it was a spontaneous idea to rent a boat and again this year when I couldn't find a kennel to take him for the day.) His daughter has taken great care of him and couldn't be nicer. I have to say this has been a huge help and a big reason for this review. Visited July 2015 Less Helpful? “Best pontoons on the lake. PERIOD.” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2015 I've been taking anywheres from 1-5 trips up to Lake George each summer from NYC since 2008. Over the years we've rented boats from a few different marinas. However, as of discovering Captain Bob's we haven't gone elsewhere. This is 3 or 4 years in a row, now, multiple trips each summer. In my experience, it doesn't get better than Bob's. The condition of the boats I've rented here have ranged between being in good shape to being practically brand new and seemingly unused! The range of power in the rentals has ranged between fast as heck and even faster. And as for reliability, we've yet to run into a single issue with our rentals. That's more than we can say about some of the other marina's we've rented from in the area. As for customer service, we've never had an issue here either. “Great Pontoon Rental Experience!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2015 Swung by the Contessa Resort Motel (Bolton's Landing) last year to rent a pontoon boat for a camping trip from Captain Bob. We had no problem getting our paperwork sorted out, paying up (at a more reasonable price than any other pontoon rentals in the area I might add), and getting out on the water. The Cap'n kept us laughing throughout the process. He made sure the boat was cleaned up for us, properly inspected, fueled up, and that the drivers in our group were adequately versed in how to operate it. It ran great for the few days we had it and everyone had a blast. On the way back to the dock on our last day, we were met with choppy water and a crowded marina so Bob's assistant helped us get the boat docked safely. That was a huge help. My group of friends likes to mix up our camping destinations every year, but we had such a good time that we're coming back and renting from Bob and Contessa again this year!

“Captain Bob boat rental” 4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2015 My friends and I have rented pontoon boats from Captain Bob for the past couple of years. The boats were clean and in great working order, and the service was pretty good, albeit rough around the edges. His location is very convenient for Lake George island camping and it's nice to be able to park our car in the lot as well.. Contessa will always be our go-to spot for renting boats for the best prices on the lake.
