New Legislation Effective July 1, 2024
Section 26. Subsection (10) has been added to section 507.07, Florida Statutes, to read:

507.07 Violations.—
(10) For a mover to place a shipper’s goods in a self-service storage unit or self-contained storage unit owned by anyone other than the mover unless those goods are stored in the name of the shipper and the shipper contracts directly with the owner of the self-service storage unit or self-contained storage unit.

This new law ensures that any third-party storage arrangements must be made directly between the shipper and the storage unit owner, protecting you from losing your goods due to unpaid storage fees and ensuring transparency in the storage process.

When they come down to a new rental we deliver, when they leave for season, we pick it up and store it for the months they live up North. Yes. Movers are an essential service. Despite shutdowns among businesses and shelter-in-place in our state, many people still need to move.
