Wow - the Celebrity Apex! 11 days from Southhampton, UK to Portugal and Spain. Some highlights:
🇬🇧 We haven’t been to London in 25 years and we were only there for 2 days before heading to Southhampton. We walked over 15 miles in 2 days just trying to hit the highlights which did not disappoint. Our one regret was trying to squeeze in a show in the West End on the day we arrived 😴 😴
🛳️ We really enjoyed the Apex. The service, entertainment and ship spaces were amazing.
🖼️ Very cool sculptures and art throughout the ship.
🎭 High caliber production shows and the entertainers were very friendly and approachable when not performing
🎵 Great variety of music including solo guitarist (Mari), Caribbean/Soul (Cari Soul), singing husband and wife duo (Strings Attached), and the house orchestra were all amazing!
🇵🇹 Madeira was a beautiful island off the coast of Portugal. Porto, on the Duoro River, was bustling and had some sweet (literally) w**e. Lisbon, the capital, was also very busy (and hilly) - we want to go back someday and spend a few more days to explore.
🇮🇨 The Canary Islands were more developed than I expected. I liked Gran Canaria better than Tenerife although our visit to Mt. Teide (UNESCO World Heritage site and active 🌋) had some beautiful views. It just took a long bus ride to get there from the port.
🇪🇸 Vigo, Spain was one of my favorite stops for 2 reasons - they had escalators and moving sidewalks going up to the top of the town (!!) and amazing octopus 🐙 (Pulpo a la Gallega), a delicacy for which they are known.
