Introducing: the MoveIt Installs Group

This new, dedicated, high-volume department focuses solely on the white-glove installation and maintenance of specialized freight. From installing and removing commercial point-of-sale refrigerators, to servicing solar-powered trash compactors, to relocating vending machines, to applying new graphics and POS terminals in the field, to resetting, cleaning, and sending out missing materials, the Installs Group is quickly ramping up to be one of our fastest growing departments.

“Our team is organized, attentive, amazing, and incredibly busy,” says Team Lead Michelle Chaney. “We have so many projects going on, it is tough to get away from our desks sometimes!”

MoveIt has been handling the installation and maintenance of specialized freight for many years, and the creation of the Installs Group has allowed for expansion into new industries across North America. Manager Dani Fay and Team Lead Michelle Chaney oversee the department, while Installations Operations experts Kenny Gonzales, Tanya Shelp, and Kate Gonzales build relationships and ensure quality control. Yesterday we celebrated MoveIt founder D.G. Partridge's 90th birthday! MoveIt® was started as Computer Transportation Services, Ltd. (CTS) by D.G. Partridge in 1979. The company was an opportunity for him to build on his vision of specialized services for a growing high-tech market.

Since 1966, Partridge had been employed with several van lines located in Oklahoma, California, and Milwaukee, finally moving his family back to his roots in Iowa working for Crouse Cartage in Carroll, IA.

Soon after the deregulation of the trucking industry and the elimination of pricing regulations set by the federal government, Partridge felt it was the right time to open his own business. He hoped to serve the computer industry, specializing in lining up carriers for customers and streamlining the transportation process. Moving large mainframe computers for IBM, Honeywell, other manufacturers and leasing companies, Partridge soon found that his business was thriving.

MoveIt continues the tradition set by D.G. Partridge by continuing to adapt and staying on the leading edge of transportation technologies. It is now managed by Todd Partridge and his sister, Liz Partridge Blessington. As technology has changed, the MoveIt® Companies have adapted to other commodities while still keeping the same core focus. What was once Computer Transportation Services was rebranded as the MoveIt® Companies (consisting of MoveIt® Specialized Logistics, MoveIt® Freight Solutions and Shipping Source) in order to account for the large variety of industries now served.

It’s hard for us to believe we’ve been in the logistics/tech business for over 47 years.

To put it into perspective...

In 1979, the MoveIt Companies were born! (At the time, they were called "Computer Transportation Services" - or CTS.)

In 1981, IBM sold the first personal computer.

In 1982, the first human artificial heart transplant took place.

In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell.

In 1996, Dolly the Sheep was cloned.

In 2000, the Y2K bug failed to come to fruition.

In 2006, Apple released the first iPhone.

Pretty cool, right? After 47 years, The MoveIt Companies have been around longer than most modern technology. We can’t wait to see where the future takes us, we're grateful that you’re with us on this exciting journey. Cheers to another 47 years!

When you call into MoveIt, you’ll never be pushed over to an automated system.

Instead, you’ll talk to Jenny.

Jenny is our “Director of First Impressions,” and she has been proudly filling that role since 2008. Her voice is the first thing that any customer or vendor hears when they call us.

Anyone who has spoken with Jenny can attest to the fact that her cheerful, professional greeting can brighten anyone’s day. She also provides operations support, and is always eager to lend a helping hand.

To us, running a successful business means building long-term relationships, and in order to do that, you need to talk to your customers. No automated phone system. No answering machine. Just a friendly voice to help you get customized shipping solutions as quickly as possible.

Today, one of our managers pointed out that we have 17 people on our staff who have been with MoveIt for 20 years or more. We have, quite literally, hundreds of years of experience between all of us, across every type of logistics service there is!

So what does that mean for the people who work with us – our customers?

It means you can trust that you're working with people who understand the shipping industry, in and out, and that they love their job. That we act with confidence and make knowledgeable decisions based on past situations. Once upon a time, we used to ship computers. (Yes, for those of you who aren't old enough to remember, the large, white box in this photo is a computer!) Although life has changed drastically since then, there are a few things that still remain the same at MoveIt:

- We have an incredible team. They are kind, patient, and always add a much-needed human touch to the digital world.

- Our dedication to safe shipping. Where we once shipped computers, now we ship things like space shuttle parts, medical equipment, and high-value, hard to ship items.

- The place we call home. MoveIt has been in Breda, Iowa, since 1979, and we couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
