As comes to an end, we want to wish one of our longtime employees a happy retirement. Last week, Michael Maria retired after 21 years with Kitsap Transit!

If you've called our Customer Service line or stopped by our Customer Service Office in the last two decades, chances are you've spoken to Michael, and he's helped you plan a trip or solve a problem with his trademark patience and good nature.

Enjoy retirement, Michael. We'll miss you!

Kitsap Transit planned to add temporary supplemental sailings in Bremerton and Southworth if Washington State Ferries service was disrupted today, but both the WSF Bremerton/Seattle and Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth routes are back in service!

We're operating regular fast ferry service in both Bremerton and Southworth today. Please note that the Southworth Fast Ferry is operating its 2-boat schedule.

A huge thank you to our ferry crews and Marine Services team for their hard work to add extra sailings to the schedule yesterday!

Tomorrow is the start of ! About a third of people in the U.S. are nondrivers, including people with disabilities, youth, and low-income families. Week Without Driving gives drivers a chance to put themselves in the shoes of nondrivers, even for just a day.

This week, we're encouraging everyone to try to get where you need to go without driving yourself. That might mean biking, walking, asking for a ride, or taking public transit.

Starting Monday, Sept. 28, Kitsap Transit will switch to its winter ferry schedule. This means:

👉 The Bremerton, Kingston, and Southworth fast ferry routes will operate on weekdays only. The last Saturday fast ferry sailings of the year will be on Saturday, Sept. 26.

👉The Port Orchard Ferry will operate until 7:45 PM on Saturdays (instead of 11:45 PM).

👉Bus routes that serve the fast ferry on Saturdays (Route 186 and 307) will return to operating weekdays only.

Starting Sept. 13, we're increasing service frequency on multiple routes, including Route 108 (which will run EVERY 15 MINUTES), and adding new service to Olympic College Bremerton on Routes 215 and 219! SK Ride Express is a new service that will serve the Port Orchard Ferry Dock directly from the McCormick Woods area of South Kitsap.

Don't forget: Kitsap Transit's Bremerton Fast Ferry schedule is changing tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 1. State funding for extra fast ferry sailings is ending, meaning Kitsap Transit will operate fewer round-trip sailings on weekdays.

Why are the extra sailings going away now?

In December 2022, we added extra Bremerton Fast Ferry sailings to help offset service cut by Washington State Ferries (WSF) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional sailings were funded by Washington State and were never intended to be permanent additions to the Bremerton Fast Ferry schedule. State funding for these temporary sailings ends Aug. 31, and Kitsap Transit will stop operating them tomorrow, Sept. 1.
