Today we have the honor and privilege to conduct a missing man formation for John “Vapor” Jenista, a local pilot who has touched so many lives over the years. Olivia, along with three other aircraft, were able to fly over Barrancas National Cemetery to honor him. We had the perfect combination of great weather and great pilots to honor a great man. Thank you to the fellow pilots and ground coordinators who helped to make this a reality. Blue skies John.

We had such a wonderful time flying and interacting with the crowd at the Forgotten Coast Freedom Festival airshow! Thanks to everyone who came out to support all the acts! A HUGE shoutout to all the staff and volunteers that helped make the airshow a success! Looking forward to next year! Pass the passion!

Happy 79th birthday to Olivia! On this day in 1946, she rolled off the North American assembly line in Los Angeles, CA. Over the decades she has remained airworthy and loved. She’s a testament to the owners and maintainers that have kept her active all these years. Scroll to see the last photo of Olivia in 1968 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)! She looks a bit different nowadays. Here’s to 80 next year!

Last week, we had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly formation with the Michigan Flight Museum “Rosie’s Reply”. This B-25 is not only the only B-25D-35 flying in the world, but also a WWII combat veteran of Italy! She flew missions over Sicily with the 12th Air Force. Flying with this aircraft was not only emotional, but incredibly humbling. Matheny Airshows is incredibly grateful for the crew’s time and to Antonio for the photos and Bruce for lending us his Epsilon as the photoship. Nothing like having two wonderful North American products in the sky!
